Pacific Sisters featured in Empowerment: Art and Feminisms, an international travelling exhibition presented across South Asia from 2024–2026, including Pune, Mumbai, New Delhi, Colombo and currently Kolkata (14 February – 15 April 2026). The exhibition originated at Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, Germany.

The work presented was Te Pu o te Wheke, developed with close collaborator Pati Tyrell. Emerging from Pacific Sisters’ online research project WHEKE ROROHIKO, the eight photographic works were created individually during COVID lockdowns and later united as a collective expression of our shared kaupapa. An accompanying AR layer, accessible via the Pacific Sisters App, activates the work through movement and sound, reflecting our ongoing explorations of identity, ceremony, adornment and ancestral connection.

Honoured to share this work alongside so many powerful voices.
