See what we’ve been working on this past year ✨🌱

We started with a pretty blank slate — especially after construction on the garage left our yard a total mess.

A labor of love from the whole family, for sure! From designing to building to watering and weeding every morning with mom… we really do use the heck out of our yard now!

So much more work to be done, but I’m glad we can see the value and use of the space even while it’s in progress. One thing you won’t find me doing? Rushing a project to the finish line just for the sake of finishing it. The process is the fun part!

When your husband is in construction, even a simple car wash turns into a reason to bring out the big tools 😂

I told Patrick I wanted to let Scotty wash our cars for fun as a way to have fun in the heat. I remember so vividly going out on the weekends and washing my dad’s car with him when I was little. We would get a big bucket full of water, soap, lots of big scrub brushes and go to town!
Of course when daddy pulls out the big power tools - a little boy will never say no!!!
He had a blast and now my car is clean 🧼 but next time we are definitely going to do it by hand 😅

Things are slow moving around here as we settle into life as a family of 4 😊 so I thought I’d share some cutie family photos from this pregnancy to tide you over.

Sometimes it pays off to be 25 and naive 😅 we’re on year 6 in our home and while we definitely would’ve done a lot of things differently looking back…. We have our forever home and get to continue updating her for MANY years to come!

Our little family grew a tiny bit bigger this week 🩷 We welcomed our baby girl, Sawyer Kate with open arms (and a few love slaps from Scotty). And she gets to share a birthday with her daddy forever!!

It’s been hard to keep this very big part of our lives off social media the last 9 months, especially in a space where I usually share everything, but it was honestly just what I wanted — a little privacy on this platform. A season to step back, to live it instead of posting it, and to hold something just for us before opening it up to the world.

Feeling so grateful for a healthy baby, a body that carried her, the unmedicated birth I planned for and this new chapter for our family. She is already so deeply loved. Welcome to the world, SK🤍

When we started this garage apartment build, I thought I was just documenting another project. But this one feels different — it’s ours. Every detail, every decision, every argument (😅) is part of something we’ve dreamed up for ourselves!

We’ve built homes for clients, but never one that was completely ours from the ground up. Watching it take shape has been so fun but challenging!

If you’re into design, new builds, or just love seeing how a home comes together piece by piece, you’re in the right place. Follow along — this garage apartment is just getting started 🤍
