@paulnache will present new paintings by Evan Woodruffe at the Aotearoa Art Fair, 1–4 May. Layered with colour and energy, Woodruffe’s works blur the line between what we see and what we feel—porous paintings that pulse with life, music, memory, and movement.

With a practice spanning two decades and a career that’s taken him across the Asia-Pacific, Woodruffe continues to push paint as both material and metaphor.

Vale is carving, I think. It free-stands. So it's in space. Oh i don't know... it is a thing. I and other artists are speaking with curators @slow_dust and @jejekidd between 11 and 12 on Saturday 12th April about this, they're speaking about that and we're all speaking about no konei or from here...to eternity. A glen is a valley, a valley is a vale, a vale is a long depression, vale sounds like veil. Simone Weil sounds like Veil, gravity holds this work vertical. It is not quite infrastructure and not quite an object, it prompts people to touch it and improvise with it. McCahon made paintings to walk along. Popeye is what he is, Olive a second helping of spinach, disassembled shelves made of packing cases and paint, approximately 6m x 1.4m x 20mm curved 2024 from the exhibition No Konei, Te Whare o Rehua/Sarjeant Gallery curators Jessica Kidd, Greg Donson photographer Michael McKeagg courtesy PAULNACHE #curve #sculpture #prop #artifice #art #glenhayward #paulnache #sarjeantgallery #painting #rust #fences
