POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
CW: I’ve never told anyone who my r@pist was before this week. (I called my sister and my husband first.) Partly, it’s because the thought of him makes me sick to my stomach, but if I’m honest, it’s because there’s a part of me that also wants to protect him: his name, his image, and the memory of him for other people. But I have to let go of that if I’m ever really going to heal or stop hating myself for what happened. Still getting there.

His name was Kenny Lambert.

FRIDAY 🗞️ DUMP
• Trump had his supporters recite a pledge of allegiance to himself — and promise to vote in November — as he teamed with Vice President JD Vance on the second and final night of the first Republican midterm convention.

“I pledge to the greatest president in history of the country, that loves us so much that he can’t even breathe, that I will go out with my family, my friends” and vote, Trump said. He later added: “You know what happens if you don’t vote? You go to hell.”

• Diesel prices in the U.S. hit yet another record on Friday, soaring past $6 a gallon on average as Washington’s war with Iran disrupts the world’s flow of fuel.

Higher diesel prices mean more expensive transportation for a long list of everyday goods. That’s because diesel is used for many freight and delivery networks. And some businesses have already passed along steeper costs to consumers in the form of added fees on online orders and packages in the mail.

• Test scores of 15-year-old students fell sharply worldwide in math, reading and science, according to new results from the influential PISA exam.

Reading took the biggest hit, falling to the lowest level ever recorded in the assessment. “Hasty reading” — skimming fast but getting it wrong — nearly doubled between 2018 and 2025.

U.S. science scores were a rare exception, ticking up three points from three years ago to match where they stood in 2009 and 2018.

American reading and math scores both fell to their lowest on record.

• Shanah Tovah to those celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, beginning at sundown tonight.
