One more photo of my Way Up North Meadowland quilt that my husband snapped (with me with Saturday morning hair and coffee). Until our recent renovations this curved living room wall was a dark chocolate brown. We are in love with how much brighter the room looks since we painted it bright white. ⁣

On July 22, a devastating fire destroyed 274 Jarvis Avenue - home to more than two dozen Winnipeg artists and creative studios. Livelihoods and entire bodies of work were wiped away this week.
To bring some context to the situation to those who may not be directly connected to this community, but may have grabbed a coffee over the last 8 years at Parlour, we were honoured to show the works of some artists directly affected by this tragedy - Paul Robles, Craig Love, Robert Taite, Liv Valmestad and Lilian Bonin to name a few.

Please consider donating to help our friends and fellow citizens rebuild what was lost this week.
Thanks to @bordercrossingsmag @wag_ca and @pluginica for organizing - link in bio. Thoughts, prayers, and dollars are headed your way Jarvis - not to mention open arms and muscles ready to help lift when the time comes. Godspeed.

So many artists who I love and admire were effected by the massive fire on Jarvis yesterday. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it will be to rebuild what was lost but it has been inspiring to see so many people chip in to help. Let’s keep going! Link in bio to donate.

In the words of our friend Rob Taite @wood_things_ “We lost everything, but we also built something that can not be destroyed. Community ❤️”

Devastating news to wake up to. And being away from home makes this seem unreal. Thinking of all my studio mates, and well, just kind of speechless. Seth and I were just talking last night about how lucky we are to be a part of this very special space. Now it’s gone. Looking forward seems impossible right now. I guess we just start picking up the pieces.

Woke up to find my studio of the past decade smoking rubble. Totally devastating and not sure what if anything to do. I had at an at least one show of work in storage there and another body of work on the go. I just hope no one was hurt, but this is a huge loss. Send some love to my studio mates, as these are trying times. #retiredartists

Little known fact (maybe?). First gallery I consulted on and was Acting Director in Winnipeg, was Actual. This was the inaugural exhibition, Actual Artists. 2014
