POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A Little Room is a monthly place to practice presence. This new experimental series invites people with deep inner lives - AI scientists, authors, mystics, artists, entrepreneurs - to share the practice they use to stay centred. Then we try it all together, in a little room.

This month feels like the very essence of what this gathering is about. My guest is the magical poet, author, and founder of @pause_place Katie Abbott. Katie is the embodiment of peace and her invitation is to experience the simple power of presence. In a world where density, intensity and chaos are the norm, it’s extraordinary to experience the mystery and beauty of emptiness.

My first spiritual experience was an experience of oneness.

I had no words for it at the time and no framework.

But it opened the world up.

Each being became part of something infinitely more intimate.

Each encounter infused with meaning beyond the everyday.

Even though time no longer existed, what did exist is the splendour and wonder of the moment and the unbelievable privilege to be able to have one to one experiences with other living beings, who were in fact the energy, the beauty, and the magic of the whole entire universe.

It sounds so silly to explain it.

I wasn’t ready for oneness at the time. I had no framework for it, no understanding of it, and the intensity of the experience made me call out to life to push it away.

My deepest prayer was to feel my humanity, and this prayer was answered.

To all extents and purposes, even though that experience of oneness has impacted every moment of my life since then, and this was over a decade or so ago now, it is the human journey I have lived- the turbulent ocean of loves duality.

Finally, the seas are changing. I wasn’t wanting it or expecting it but the invitation towards oneness is here again, and this time, with far greater insight and far greater understanding, I am so much more ready.

To live, to love, to open and to explore!

Thank you for listening and for being here x x x x x

Love Katie ❤️❤️❤️

It was such a beautiful and magical evening to be at Watkins last night!

That place holds such a special place in my heart!

It is linked to so much, my discovery of Sufism and the mystical path of love!

Last night felt grounded and simple.

It’s really really hard to explain in words.

But if you imagine a space with no agenda, where we can pause, and just speak from a natural normal place.

Why should that be so revolutionary?

I am discovering more and more about the power of Pause Place at the moment and the direction that it is leading me.

I don’t like talking in riddles and I know I have that tendency sometimes.

But I sense a re immersion into the world. Very grounded. Very potent. Mysticism. Truth. Direction. Care. Love. Beauty. Transparency. The world. Technology. Ancient simplicity. Humanity. Love. Presence. Connection.

It is all so very simple.

And powerful. Just to cut through the density and to feel the moment.

Much to say. Much to share.

But mainly just a huge thank you for bearing with me as I make this transition.

I am sure anyone is not really interested but it feels like such a moment and I am grateful to be able to share it with you.

On the bus last night! Favourite place to be! A few books! And the last photo taken- the spiritual heart of God right in the middle of Central London- which pretty much sums up all I wanted to say! Oh and my lovely neighbour Hattie who I had to include as she is so beautiful!

Love you!

Thank you Watkins @watkinsbooks ! Thank you for all who joined us!

With love,

Katie ❤️❤️

PINCH ME! This is my dream night. 💌💫🌑
Bringing people together to share what practices keep them centred, creative and well is my favourite way to be in community.

On Wednesday we took our shoes off and got all cosy in @dicefm’s snazzy living room (thank you @taichikozaki)

💫 AI scientist and psychonaut (and as it happens, hubby) @vezhnick took us through three vajrayana practices to find spaciousness in sound, image and body.

💫 Chef and auntie @shikhalamode made snacks to die for.

💫 I got to hug some of my favourite people in London and share a tool that works for me to keep me present: @getbrick

Thank you @kidcircus for documenting the magic. ✨
Next month, we’ll get into a little room with the embodied, magical, mystical woman that is Katie Abbott @pause_place. More soon. Stay open.

Good morning all,

I hope that you are well.

This is a reminder that this gathering is taking place this evening at Watkins Books @watkinsbooks in Central London and you will be so welcome to join us.

This occasion marks a moment of transition.

Ten years ago Pause Place was founded with the simple declaration of love, presence and connection.

It was always clear that this work would be for anyone who felt called.

Regardless of faith, background or disposition, it was universal.

A place to come and let go.

A place where there was no theory, no content, no doing, no changing, no method, no agenda, not even a purpose.

It was to honour the moment, and to honour our being here, within that moment.

For the last decade I have sat with hundreds of individuals.

Mysticism has been at the very heart of this, but so has our humanity- what it means to be real and honest together.

Having really had very little interest in taking the work into the wider world, the seas are changing.

Much is in development.

This new decade I am opening things up.

Stretching the wings.

Working with organisations, businesses and in places and with people where there is a willingness to explore beyond form.

Anyone who knows the work will know its laser sharp focus, its discipline.

Behind the softness there is a power that knows that only our soul can survive the density of this world.

And that together, when we really reach out, when we can really see the truth of one another, we can be free.

I am so excited to be together tonight.

Just love, presence and connection.

Just doing our best and doing it together.

I am so grateful for every single person I have met since Pause Place began.

It really is a testament to all the beauty and magic and meaning and mystery this world contains.

Good morning all!
.
Just a little reminder that you are invited to join me @watkinsbooks on Thursday evening from 5-6pm.
.
.
It really is such a miracle to be there, sharing with you about my first book ‘Love’s Secret, A Journey to the Beyond’.
.
.
I walked into Watkins about four months ago and saw the book on the shelf and said to the man (James!) who was working there- Ha! I wrote that book! 😃
.
.
It was really a smiling moment as the book doesn’t have my name on it so it is hard to identify where it comes from, if you don’t know!
.
.
We had a great conversation and James invited me to come and create an evening with them.
.
.
Hopefully I’ll be able to explain why it doesn’t have my name on it, how it was created and how it ended up being edited and published by an extraordinary human being!
.
.
It now sits in the Sufism section next to Rumi and Hafiz which blows my mind a little bit but in some ways it doesn’t at all because life has an enormous sense of humour and this book, like everything good in life, came as a complete gift from the beyond, taking me on an adventure that I will always be in debt to.
.
.
Second photo is baby Jacob. The Pause Place Practitioner Training has been running for ten years now and each time we begin I go to Watkins on a pilgrimage to find a magical book and a magical crystal. Here also is Kyun Yin, my most treasured possession.
.
.
The goddess of love and compassion she is my anchor and a sign of all the beauty and goodness in this world.
.
.
I really hope to see you there, with arms wide open.
.

.
Love Katie ❤️❤️

Dear all,

I hope that you are well.

I am absolutely delighted to be able to invite you to a six week journey that is taking place online and beginning this evening.

We are meeting for six Sunday evenings from 8-9pm BST via Zoom. Beginning tonight Sunday 4th October and ending on Sunday 8th November.

You will see on the website, that there is no pressure to attend every session and you can have the video on or off. There isn’t any pressure.

It is for the heart to open and the soul to relax.

It is to explore with a group of very special people, sensitive in nature and open to the mysteries of love.

As always with Pause Place, it is just our simple humanness that opens all the doors. That and the grace, magic and meaning of the beyond.

I have kept the price for this low as I know for many, times are hard. If you cannot afford it, reach out to me and let me know. No one turned away for that reason.

I hope to be together soon.

With love,

Katie ❤️

The Mysteries of Love begins online this Sunday evening at 8pm London time.
.
.
It is six Sunday evenings together on the Zoom and open to all.
.
.
We travelled this journey over the Summer months and it was so meaningful and felt so much in the heart that we decided to continue in to the Autumn.
.
.
You know with Pause Place it is very organic, video on or off, some weeks you can be there some weeks you might not be able to, spacious, deep, magical, mysterious and very very human.
.
.
You can just be yourself. It really is as simple as that.

.
I feel really excited to be able to invite you to a very special weekend adventure in Marrakesh in late November.
.

This is three nights away to explore in the most special city.

I don’t really have many words to say right now other than the heart is aligned, our Riad for this adventure is just beautiful and the group is already forming.

We have three bedrooms now left in the house.

If you need some space away from the noise, for simplicity and surrender. Something for the heart and for the soul to feel, to release and to remember what a miraculous world this is, then please do consider joining us.

You will find the details in the bio @pause_place

For almost twelve years I sat in a small room at Number 1 Harley Street, working as a therapist.

It was the most extraordinary time.

Diligently working with all the theories, methods and techniques I had learnt, looking back now, I can see that it was the quality of presence and attention that made the greatest difference.

To actually see someone is possible when we are doing a lot but it is easier when we let things go.

But as I said, human beings are extraordinary.

What they show on the surface is most definitely not who they are.

In essence, there is wonder, great fear, great imagination, neurosis like you would not imagine, pain, doubt, such great love, compassion, tenderness and sincerity.

It doesn’t really matter who the person is- underneath it all is something miraculous.

I haven’t got enough space here to tell you all the nuances that I would like to. To tell you how it really feels and how it really felt.

I would pinch myself every single day.

When you are awake to another person, there is no time, there is no space, there is simply the creative capacity for new landscape, expanding reality and the heart on fire.

It is magical and beautiful.

It is the story of our being here, woven before your very eyes.
.
.
.
I now have a new room. Nothing could compare to that small room at Number 1 Harley Street but actually, this room is its bedfellow. Equally as magical, as protected, as held in another world. My dear friend and mentor Robert Lewis said to me before my first session when I was about 26- Katie- the room will do the work for you. And it did. And now, twenty years later, this new little room is waiting for us, waiting for the magic to unfold.
.
.
.
I will be at Sutton House in the Little Chamber offering one to one work.
Please contact me at katie@pauseplace.com for more details. You will be so welcome.

Here are some poems from my first book ‘Love’s Secret, A Journey to the Beyond’ published by the Quilliam Press in 2022.
.
.
Never intended for publication, it ended up in the hands of Sheikh Abdal Hakim Murad/ Dr Timothy Winter @abdalhakimmurad, prominent English Islamic scholar and theologian.
.
.
It now sits at @cambridgemuslimcollege and @cambridgecentralmosque but also on the shelves @watkinsbooks
.
.
I have been invited to give a talk @watkinsbooks on the 11th March 2027 to explore this book, how it came into being and also how the path of love and mysticism lives and breathes in this world in a wholly real and essential way.
.
.
Save the date in your diary and I will share more formal invitations in due course.
