At Dine with Davina @dinewithdavina, Davina spoke so passionately and openly about everything she's been through over the past few years 💜

It was an incredibly special day supporting Action Medical Research @actionmedres, a children's charity 💜

This charity is incredibly important to Davina, who has supported it for an amazing 50 years.🙌

Action Medical Research funds vital research to help save and change the lives of babies and children. Without research, there are no breakthroughs and without fundraising, much of that research simply couldn’t happen.

So while Dine with Davina is a wonderful day full of laughter and memories, at the heart of it is something much bigger 🙌 helping to give seriously ill children a better future. 💜

And a HUGE congratulations to Davina @davinamccall on marrying the love of her life, Michael @mdlondon (we missed you) 🤪

After everything she's been through, it's bloody lovely to see her looking f***ing amazing and so so happy. We love you Davina 🥰

Here's to health, happiness and a wonderful new chapter. 🙌💜

Next Saturday, we’ll be joining hundreds of women in London for a day dedicated to women’s health, conversation and connection.

Come and find the SECE Mind team to talk about our work, including women’s mental health support, mental health training, our International Women’s Day event, and the wider services we provide across our communities.

We’re really looking forward to being part of the day. Raising awareness, opening up conversations and helping more people discover the support available to them.

Gurlss, it’s time for Vitamin D 😂
@doctoramirkhan reminded

Yep. It’s October.

Which means the British sunshine has basically clocked off, and I’m here to remind you about your vitamin D.

If you’re a woman in your 40s, 50s or beyond, especially in the peri/menopause years, this is one of those boring things that’s actually worth paying attention to.

Why?

Because from around October to early March, we don't get enough sunlight in the UK for our bodies to make enough vitamin D.

And vitamin D really matters for women.

It helps your body absorb calcium and supports healthy bones and muscles.

And ladies… bones and muscle are not things I want you leaving until you're 70 to start thinking about.

We're talking about how you want to move, feel and function as you get older.

Can you carry your shopping?

Get yourself up off the floor?

Climb the stairs?

Keep doing the things you enjoy?

That's the stuff I'm interested in.

So, what are we actually talking about?

The NHS recommends that adults consider taking:

10 micrograms (400 IU) of vitamin D every day from October through to early March.

Some people may want to take it all year round, including melanated people, those who don't spend much time outdoors, are housebound or in a care home, or usually cover most of their skin when they're outside.

If you're unsure whether that applies to you, have a chat with your pharmacist or GP.

And just to be clear…

Vitamin D isn't a menopause cure.

I'm not about to tell you that taking a little tablet is going to magically sort out your hormones, your sleep, your weight or your hot flushes.

It won't.

But it is one small part of looking after your bones and muscles as you move through midlife and beyond.

And this is the bigger point I keep coming back to with you:

Stop waiting until something becomes a problem before you start looking after it.

We train for our old lady body now.

We build muscle now.

We look after our bones now.

We get our protein in now.

We walk now.

Not because we're old.

Because we want to be strong when we are.

What a difference a year makes! 💜

This time last year, The Menopause Network officially launched at PAUSE Live, where we were incredibly proud to be the headline sponsor.

Fast forward just 12 months, and it’s been an exciting year of growth, new initiatives and, most importantly, supporting more women through menopause.

Over the past year we have:

💜 Launched our Menopause Hubs, bringing local support, information and community directly to women.

💜 Introduced Menopause in the Workplace, providing training and support for businesses that want to better understand and support employees through menopause.

💜 Launched our online shop and product testing community, where women can join completely FREE, try selected products and simply share their honest reviews.

And now, one year after our launch, it feels incredibly fitting that The Menopause Network is returning to PAUSE Live — this time as sponsor of the Educational Stage.

But we wanted to do even more.

We’ve also made a significant contribution to PAUSE Live to help make the event more accessible, allowing attendees to BRING A FRIEND FOR JUST £10.

Because at the heart of everything we do is one simple aim: to make sure women going through menopause can access the information, education, community and support they need.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved in our first year — and we’re only just getting started.

We can’t wait to see you at PAUSE Live on Saturday 10th October. 💜

Menopause Awareness Month- Story 2

Yesterday I shared part of my story
Today, I want to share a very special one - it’s a story I hear versions of again and again in my coaching room- and invite you to witness “her” too: of course this story is not one single woman’s because confidentiality is at the core of my ethics and my practice. So “she” is “a.woman”, me, you, your neighbour, friend, the teacher at your kid’s school, the nurse in the GP practice…. so:

She thought she was having a midlife crisis.
Read captions 👆🏼

I believe we need another way to talk and think about what we experience at this stage of life.

I call it The Midlife Paradox.

That strange contradiction of feeling “I don’t know who I am anymore” while becoming increasingly clear about what matters, what no longer fits and what you don’t want anymore. Which brings eventual clarity about what you do.

Because menopause and midlife can shake our sense of identity as they affect our bodies, relationships, work and roles.

Maybe we need new language but what we have is confusion and then grief about who we are no longer. No wonder it’s over- f’ing- welming! 🎢

What do YOU think: crisis or paradox?
Please vote and I welcome you to share your experience and thoughts below kindly or in dms.

Is she having a Midlife Crisis or Experiencing the Midlife Paradox? or…in comments 👇🏻
