Deadlift 190kg (+10)

After how my last comp went I had no expectations for this one, and it somehow turned into my best performance so far. Initially this was supposed to be a practice competition to gain more experience, but training was going so well we decided to push for the Nationals QT. Even without a peak I was able to hit the qualifier on my second deadlift, which meant I got to have some fun on my third and send it! Beyond happy to have hit a 190kg deadlift, especially since I hadn’t lifted anything heavier than 172.5kg in training in the lead up. Also very proud to have achieved my first 9/9 comp!

The conditions on the day were definitely challenging. The heat and humidity meant I had to really prioritise staying hydrated and conserving my energy throughout. I think I drank almost 5L in the few hours I was competing! Making weight in the morning was a bit stressful too, as after my last comp I was worried about depleting myself and didn’t quite drop enough weight beforehand. Everything worked out though, and it was another good learning experience. I’m excited to keep training and for what’s to come!

Also forever grateful to have such an amazing and supportive community around me. Couldn’t do it without you guys! ❤️

A huge thank you to my coach @sydneystrengthcoach, @alex.s.fomin for handling me, my physio @powerlifting_physio, and everyone at @alphaathletes_
