POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Our first year at @godivingshow, thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello. It was great to meet new people and catch up with old friends. The St David’s Day Welsh cakes and Pembrokeshire’s own @bartirum went down a treat, note to self bring more rum next time….

🌊Save the Date🌊

Tuesday 10th March 5.30-7pm
At the Regency Hall

If you care about what’s happening along our coastline — and what it could mean for our village — this is an evening you won’t want to miss.

Join Tom Luddington (Coastal Stakeholder Manager) and guest speakers on 10th March at the Regency Hall for a fascinating talk by local geologist Sid Howells and storytelling event by Phil Okwedy exploring the changes taking place and how they may shape our future.

The event is free and open to everyone, and there’ll be a complimentary light buffet at 7pm for those attending — so come along, bring a friend and be part of the conversation.

Hopefully see you there.

Cafodd y myfyrwyr eu hysbrydoli i ddod yn Rhyfelwyr Ynni gan y digwyddiadau COP30 yn Sir Benfro. Roeddem wrth ein bodd yn clywed gan Hanna Yevchun am ei phrofiadau yn yr Antarctig – er gwaethaf ein tristwch wrth weld realiti newid hinsawdd. Datgelodd arbenigwyr fel a Dr. Jennifer Rudd y gwirionedd noeth: mae'r CO₂ a gynhyrchir gan ddynion yn gwneud i dymereddau godi. Clywsom storïau am wydnwch – Bluestone yn mynd yn ddi-danwydd-ffosil. O’r safbwynt byd-eang, cyflwynodd Perpetua Ifiemor a Dr. Guglielmo Sonnino Sorisio atebion gwastraff bwyd a mudo pysgod.
Arddangosodd ysgolion eu teithiau hinsawdd, gan brofi bod lleisiau pobl ifanc yn cyfrif. Rhannodd y disgyblion syniadau ar Padlet – plannu coed, lleihau plastig, a hyrwyddo ynni adnewyddadwy.
The students were inspired to become Energy Warriors by the COP30 events in Pembrokeshire. We were delighted to hear from Hanna Yevchun about her experiences in Antarctica – despite our sadness at seeing the reality of climate change. Experts such as Dr. Jennifer Rudd revealed the bare truth: CO₂ produced by humans is causing temperatures to rise. We heard stories of resilience, like Bluestone going fossil-fuel-free. From a global perspective, Perpetua Ifiemor and Dr. Guglielmo Sonnino Sorisio presented solutions for food waste and fish migration.
Schools showcased their climate journeys, proving that young people's voices matter. The students shared ideas on Padlet – planting trees, reducing plastic, and promoting renewable energy.

✨ 20 Years of the Dragon Darwin Experience! ✨

What an incredible week celebrating two decades of inspiring young people (and the wider community!) through hands-on science, nature and creativity.

From returning to Roch Community School where it all began in 2005…to our Science Spectacular at @pembscollege with four fantastic schools (St. Teilo’s Catholic Primary School, Coastlands County Primary School, Neyland Community School & Monkton Priory School)…to finishing with a special evening event for the public, filled with STEM activities, seaweed snacks and a science show, it’s been a celebration to remember. 💙

This reel captures just a few highlights:
🦔 Hedgehog workshops with @pembrokeshirehogspital
⚡ Renewable energy investigations with Tim Brew from @pcfcic
🧠 Science and Creativity and Sensational Science with Eugenia from @braintasticsci
🔬 Darwin’s Discovery Room exploring minibeasts, microscopes, seaweed + shells
🐾 Amazing Animals and That’s Non Sense science shows with Yaz from Braintastic Science
🌊 Lots of hands-on fun with young people, families and the community from organ aprons to solar system models!

A huge thank you to every school, partner, educator and family who joined us, to Dr Mark Smith and our volunteer Cara for their help— and to our long-term supporters Dragon LNG and Dragon Energy, who make these opportunities possible.💫

Happy Halloween 🎃. The volunteers of @narcdiving were tricked into diving the dirtiest site that Pembrokeshire has to offer. And in return they treated the marine life by removing a staggering amount of litter from the seabed.
.
.
10 shopping trollies
4 scooters
1 car battery
5 20mtrs plastic drums
2 tyres
6 vapes
7 glass bottles
2 fishing hand lines
2 magnets
2 mobile phones
1 plasterers trowel
Various weights/angling line/hooks
.
.
And the sad fact is that there is still more litter to be removed from the seabed at Hobbs Point, we found more trollies, fishing rods, nets and weights but unfortunately we ran out of lifting bags. Superb effort from both the underwater and shore based volunteers.

We thought you might like a little update on the rescued Fulmar Petrels Ffi has been looking after.
Both were most likely young birds and were found struggling with the strong winds and waves during the rescue operation of the mass stranding of so many of their distant cousins the Manx Shearwaters at the weekend.
Having had some rest and the chance to dry waterlogged feathers both birds went off well from the boat, happy to be swopping Ffi’s stable for the open ocean again.
Good luck little ones! 🥰

.
