This sign was along Barton Blvd in Rockledge, FL from 1978 until the late 1980's. I learned how to play disc golf here when I was a teenager, at the Rockledge Disc Golf Course.

Following a few setbacks from mother nature, the International Disc Golf Center is set to reopen in the fall of 2026 and the PDGA Champions Cup returns home in 2028. 🌿

Led by the work of the @pdga_idgc staff of Nathaniel Samsel and Sid Olcott, the new championship level course was designed by Paul McBeth and incorporates the entirety of the pristine property in Appling, Georgia.

I have a LOT of mini Frisbees. Not the most, not the best, but quite a few. Many have interesting stamps, designs, or stories associated with them. So, I've decided to begin an occasional series of posts with photos of minis that tickle my fancy.

This tribute to Steady Ed seems an appropriate one to start with, given that it has the number 001 on it. I guess that's one benefit of starting the organization - you can assign yourself member #001.

I was lucky enough to meet Ed Headrick in 1983 at PDGA Pro Worlds in Huntsville, AL. We were spectating the semifinals and finals, and I decided to tag along with the founder and pepper him with questions. An experience I'll never forget.

As a founder of our sport of disc golf, Ed is revered by many. But as is true of most historical figures, his story is a complex one. But for today, I'll focus on the fact that he was instrumental in developing Frisbee sports and disc golf, and helped a lot of people have fun. And as the story goes, when he passed away, his spirit flew up to the roof of the International Disc Golf Center in Georgia as it headed to its final resting place. This Discraft mini commemorates Ed's passing.
