Japan 🇯🇵 - World Championships 🌈

To all those that supported me and my journey to get there from the very bottom of my heart thank you and I am so truly sorry I couldn’t reach that last moment, the one that quest, the one I wanted and the one I worked so incredibly hard for.

This one’s going to take me a while to process as it has taken me to some dark places of which I know will be lessons one day that will help me grow into a stronger human being. But for now I just need to ride the storm.

The support and belief from those around me has been beautiful and those people I will cherish forever so to those people my gratitude is yours forever and thank you.

It’s made me realise even more that sport, training, the process that’s my anchor regardless of the outcome it’s never about that. That’s what makes me get up everyday wanting to take on the world, it helps me prove that I can do hard things so the rest of life isn’t quite as hard.

So if you find yourself questioning whether to do the thing or dreading the a workout, the hard training session or even an event that scares the hell out of you. Remember we get to do this, because when you can’t you will always want it more.

For now I and grateful its reminded me I am lucky to have an amazing group of people around me. Thank you, you are all amazing ❤️🖤

What an absolutely incredible experience.

A massive thank you to @pdtsandc for coaching me through my first Ironman, and to everyone who played a part along the way, gave advice, sent a message, or came out to support on race day thank you. There are far too many people to mention individually, but I genuinely appreciated every bit of it.

There were parts of the training I was terrible at, plenty I didn’t understand, and more than a few moments where I questioned whether I’d bitten off more than I could chew.

And that was the point.

This wasn’t about chasing a time or proving anything. It was about choosing something that genuinely scared the f*ck out of me, accepting that I wasn’t going to have all the answers, and trying to figure it out as I went.

Some sessions went well. Some were awful. Some days I felt like I was getting somewhere, and others I wondered how I was ever going to put the whole thing together.

Race day was much the same.

There were good patches, bad patches, and moments where the finish still felt a very long way away.

Nothing particularly heroic happened. I just kept moving.

And I think that’s probably my biggest takeaway from the whole thing.

I spent a lot of time wondering whether I was doing things right, whether I’d done enough, or whether I’d actually be ready.

In the end, I don’t think I ever really felt ready.

I just got to the start line and found out.

That’s something I ask of the people I coach all the time, and this experience gave me a much better appreciation for how difficult that can actually be when you’re the one in it.

A lot learned about training.
A lot learned about coaching.
And definitely a lot learned about myself.

No perfect race. No incredible time.

Just something I was genuinely scared of and genuinely unsure I could do, seen through to the end.

And a pretty cool sentence waiting at the end of it.

“You are an IRONMAN.”
