Wolves remain under attack across the country. Wolf hunting has resumed in the Northern Rockies with lawmakers setting their sights on wolves in states like Wisconsin & Minnesota. We often remind our followers that #AllDogsComeFromWolves but @bohemianlightsphotography, this week’s #StyleSaturday spotlight, needs no reminding. When Rachel Sitarz began rescuing Shibas, a basal breed, she was reminded that man’s best friend wouldn’t be here without wolves! Rachel always loved visiting @wolfparkindiana, and as her photography career began to pick up, she started bringing her camera along. When Rachel learned she could photograph the wolves, she jumped on the opportunity! Rachel and her husband absolutely adore the wolves at @wolfparkindiana and even sponsored one in 2019. In addition to wolves, Rachel has had the unique opportunity to photograph foxes and New Guinea singing dogs as well. We are so fortunate to have Rachel as a partner of #RelistWolves.

“The revised [WI DNR Wolf Management] plan released in August includes an arbitrary wolf population cap of 1,242. If wolf numbers exceed that, the revised plan’s goal is to reduce the population by 50%,” Kimberley Hollis wrote in a Letter to the Editor in The Cap Times last month.

Hollis’s callout harkens back to the 2022 Wisconsin hunting season in which 216 wolves were slaughtered in under 60 hours. A 2021 Guardian article explored the foul tactics used during these wolf hunts which included the use of hounds. The use of dogs in the hunts, resulted in an excessive number of wolves being killed— overshooting the hunting quota by a staggering 83%. The 2021 wolf hunting season was not just a hunt, it was a massacre.

We cannot ignore the pressing need for federal regulations and protections for these majestic animals. Our ecosystem relies on the balance that wolves provide. Read the op-Ed at the link in our bio then take action to #RelistWolves at RelistWolves.org!

Sadly, a total of 6 wolves have reportedly been killed during the general hunting season in #Montana, which started a week ago. 💔🐺

Last winter, a total of 273 wolves were killed in Montana. This year, the state authorized the killing of up to 456, including six north of #Yellowstone National Park. We must stop the hunt!

“Peace 4 Animals has been a part of the @RelistWolvesCampaign for almost 2 years and although there has been much progress to protect them throughout the U.S. and reintroduce them to states like #Colorado where they were eradicated in the 1940s, I’m sadden to hear that six wolves have just been killed in #Montana by hunters. We must continue to fight and raise awareness to Relist Wolves in every state in the United States, including the Northern Rockies, where they currently have no protection,” said Katie Cleary, President of @Peace_4Animals & @WorldAnimalNews_.

Today is #WorldOrangutanDay! 💛🦧

A powerful scene from @WhyOnEarthFilm of a pregnant orangutan named Saba who was shot on a rubber/palm oil plantation that was going to be bulldozed to the ground.

The world’s forests are in crisis due to deforestation. Tropical forests cover roughly 7% of the earth’s surface but harbor close to half of all species on Earth. 🌱

An estimated 18 million acres of forest, an area one-fifth the size of California, is lost every year, largely due to the expansion of agribusiness plantations. Tropical deforestation and related land-use changes are responsible for nearly a quarter of global carbon dioxide emissions, and are a major contributor to the global biodiversity crisis. 💔

You can help protect our earth’s endangered orangutans by Keeping Your #PalmsOffPalmOil 🤚🚫🦧

Currently headed to the hospital thanks to our sister rescue @peace_4animals 🥺🙏

This poor girl was just found abandoned in a park. She’s sick and very clearly has been neglected for a long time. She also appears to have had babies recently. Thankfully @janie_mo took her in and is on her way to our hospital with her🙏
Most likely a breeder bred her repeatedly until she became sick and then dumped her.
This is the reality for most mamas exploited by jerkoff breeders.

Praying this sweet girl is going to be okay 🙏

She needs a name❤️

She’ll also need a foster once she’s cleared to leave the hospital. If you can foster this sweetie, please fill out an app on our site! (Link to site in bio)
