✨A D O P T E D✨ We thought Bergamot would get adopted in no time because of his pretty privilege…but he ended up breaking down badly after waiting months and months in the shelter. He began to lose weight, his fur got dull, and his spirit was dimming. Then he started showing signs of bloat (a common and life-threatening condition in older large breed dogs). He ended up getting surgery and landed a foster home for his post-op recovery. Bergamot is now fully recovered from his surgery and is like a whole new dog. He is back up to a healthy weight, his fur is glossy and gorgeous, and he is proving to be an incredible companion. While he is too interested in chasing cats in the home, he has potential to live with another dog as long as the handler is experienced and mindful of feeding the dogs separately. Bergamot guards food around other dogs when it’s in a bowl but has been fine when casually sharing treats. He is also such a gentleman on leash, non-reactive to anything and even happy to walk right alongside other dogs. This handsome, senior German Shepherd is more than ready for a forever home. He is potty-trained, crate-trained, and such a love bug. He is empathetic and so gentle, especially when he knows someone needs comfort and support. He is loyal, affectionate, quiet, and will make someone the luckiest adopter ever. Bergamot is 6-7 years old and weighs 73 lbs. Spring at home has been very special this year thanks to @prestopancakes and the many wildflower seeds he squirreled away last year. We’d love to eventually get rid of the turf and replace it all with drought-tolerant native plants and beautiful landscaping but for this is our budget-friendly alternative 😅🧡

🔑 We are finally homeowners and newly minted Woodland residents! ✨A D O P T E D✨ Norman has had a hard life. Found running with a pack of feral dogs (many of whom were aggressive and/or gravely ill), this poor guy had clearly never been properly socialized or loved. At the shelter he was withdrawn and skittish, easily startled by every little thing and having a hard time getting comfortable around people. After being adopted we thought he got his lucky break - unfortunately he was returned very quickly and he appeared to still be shut down. For the last week he has been living with a foster and in just a short amount of time has started to really blossom and show his true personality and potential. Foster's observations: Norman is a GOOFBALL who loves to play with toys of any kind and is happy to entertain himself as long as he has a pile of toys to choose from. He also gets the silliest zoomies, sometimes for no apparent reason, but always hilarious 🤣 He also LOVES dogs and enjoys romping around the yard with the foster's senior Aussie. He also did well during a cat test! It took him a couple days to fully warm up to his foster HUMAN but he is now her cuddliest companion, curling up with her every night on the sofa to watch TV together or to keep her company while she does work on her laptop. He is still somewhat shy when meeting new people but enjoys pets so much that he always comes around eventually - when meeting new people in his foster home, he is much more outgoing! Norman has accompanied his foster when hanging out at coffee shops and breweries, and did well in both locations. Norman is fully crate-trained, sleeping in the crate overnight and happily chilling in his crate for hours during the day as needed. He wasn't potty-trained when he first arrived at the foster home but quickly figured it out!
