Yesterday we celebrated Peach’s 6th #GotchaDay and 13th birthday. We adore our bug-eyed gremlin and can’t imagine life without her 🥹

Ever since Peach’s bloodwork came back with elevated creatinine levels, I drastically reduced her protein intake. This also meant she could not have her FAVORITE treat on the planet (chimkin) except for on special occasions.

Picky Peach is usually a treat snob and turns her nose up at non-meat treats. She HATES vegetables on their own and only accepts certain fruits if they are sweet enough. But her new diet allows for sweet potatoes and thank goodness she LOVES them.

The way she bugs out for sweet potatoes you’d think they were potatoes made of chimkin.

I cried when we got her bloodwork results back but I’m glad to be on top of her yearly bloodwork so we can make some changes and keep her healthy longer 🥹

Can’t wait to celebrate her 13th birthday next month! Maybe instead of a watermelon cake she’ll be getting a sweet potato one this year… by @peachthegremlin

Spring at home has been very special this year thanks to @prestopancakes and the many wildflower seeds he squirreled away last year.

We’d love to eventually get rid of the turf and replace it all with drought-tolerant native plants and beautiful landscaping but for this is our budget-friendly alternative 😅🧡 taken in Woodland, California by @peachthegremlin

“NO PICS WITHOUT TREATOS!”

Peach tolerates so much nonsense from us hoomans, but she’s definitely always had a stubborn streak. If she doesn’t feel like looking at the camera, or walking east, or eating a type of cheese she’s never had before…she will not be cooperating, thank you very much. Anyone else have a stubborn pup? 😅

The best tasting rooms are the dog-friendly tasting rooms 🐾 Anyone else have pawrents who build all of their trips around only dog-friendly options?

This tasting room was for Bohème Wines in Occidental, CA. They’re known for the Pinot noirs and the experience was super laidback and pleasant — definitely recommend🍷

We fostered this little guy named Chuckles after pulling him from a local shelter just 2 days before he was scheduled to be euthanized! He was found stray with a mangled tail that required amputation. He was then adopted by someone who received him at 18 lbs and dumped him back at the shelter at 12 lbs after just 1 month, along with severe anxiety and fear being touched.

Since he was smaller than me, I wasn’t scared of him at all. But my pawrents had to be more careful because they weren’t used to a dog that had such fear of being touched 😢 Over time, we all learned his boundaries and learned how to coexist peacefully. His playful and funny personality began to emerge and my ma especially had lots of fun playing with Chuckles (he was a fetching fiend)!

We all thought he’d be in foster forever because his fear nipping persisted…but one day, the pawfect adopter applied and he was adopted after living with us for 17 days!

I don’t really miss him and my pa doesn’t miss him either since Chuckles didn’t like my pa very much 😅 but ma can’t help but miss having this scruffy thick boy around 🥹

We now have an opening for the next foster!

We were busy last week celebrating ma’s birfday on the coast! The trip was filed with zoomies, snacks, and good weather 😎

Highly recommend escaping to the coast during a never-ending heatwave! We actually stayed in Occidental, a tiny town tucked in the redwoods, and hung out in Bodega Bay for day 1 and Sebastopol for day 2. The Airbnb we found was so cute and very dog-friendly. We ate a TON of seafood, tasted a LOT of wine, and soaked up as much fresh, salty sea air as we could. It was a great way to kick start another lap around the sun 🎂

P.S. our little gremlin foster was babysat by a friend of ours — he’s still with us and available for adoption! taken in Bodega Bay, California by @peachthegremlin

Yesterday we found out about a local shelter dog whose last chance for rescue was scheduled for July 10. Something about him jumped out to us so we applied to be his foster family. If all goes according to plan, we may have a new foster on our hands tomorrow… 🤞🏼
