For Kathleen and Ciaran’s two days a Virginia Park Lodge I really wanted to play with the spaces both internal and external. When there are multiple days and multiple outfits I feel it’s important to utilise different spaces for each look - spaces that align with the style and event of the day. For night 1 we used one of the adjacent drawing rooms for their portraits which tied in well with their rehearsal dinner in the Marchioness Room. For the wedding day we dove deep into the wild grounds of the estate allowing Kathleen’s billowing dress to flow freely. I’m so in love with these contrasting backdrops. Morning prep with Kathleen felt really special. “I feel like this dress is fully mine now. I don’t feel like it’s my running clothes or something, but it feels mine now. Like I’ve sweat in it. Guinness is on it. Blood, sweat and tears. I love it so much.” ~ KP I’m at a loss for words to describe my three days with Kathleen and Ciaran. The details alone were enough to make any photographer scream internally, but they weren’t what made this weekend what it was. It was the couple at the heart of it. Witnessing a bride so in her element, so “blissed out,” as she so eloquently described it, was beyond anything else. This is my hope for every couple getting married. That you can be so fully immersed in your wedding that you feel totally ‘blissed out’. There were two main reasons they chose Virginia Park Lodge for their wedding: the gardens with their verdant greenery and the wallpapered interiors that nod to Kathleen’s granny. These two elements were important in how we shaped their wedding portraits. Kathleen gave me a very specific vision for her and Ciaran’s engagement shoot in Dublin. We embraced movement and romantic whimsy, which I think melded beautifully with the architecture of the city and Kathleen’s flowy fit. The real icing was that evening golden hour light which illuminated the movement of her @sharonwauchob designer pieces. I love when you give me a vision for your photos. It gives your shoot a direction that feels more customised to you as a couple. But I think it’s important that whatever direction we take, it’s a team effort to make that vision work. I can direct you, but you also need to bring the vibes. That’s why it’s so important that if you choose to give me a vision for your photos they feel like an extension of who you truly are, especially if they are to look and feel truly effortless. Kathleen and Ciaran’s engagement shoot was one met with intention.
