Join us for the next Long Beach Fixit Clinic on Sunday, November 15, from 12-3 PM at Sports Basement Long Beach! 🛠️ Have something that needs fixing? Our amazing volunteers are here to help you give your items a second life! We welcome: Electronics, bicycles, small household appliances, toys, and clothing. Items we cannot accept: Jewelry, Smart TVs, cell phones, computer software, printers, and large appliances (anything too big to carry in your arms!). NEW! Whether you’re bringing something to fix or just stopping by, we encourage you to drop off: • Household batteries • Eyeglasses and hearing aids • Wine corks • Toner and ink cartridges Together, we’re keeping valuable materials out of landfills and building a stronger culture of repair in our community 🫶 Click the link in our bio to register an item for repair or sign up to volunteer. You don’t have to be first to win! Come join the party at Bixby park (junipero and ocean) for this Spooky Alley Cat Race! Whether you come to hang, cheer on your friends, show off your costume, or win some prizes, we have something for you. I, @kween_jaylene, plan to wear a costume that night as well. I’m opening this ride up to beginners by adding 1 points based winner. You do not have to finish or find everything to win this category. Points will be based on how many checkpoints you reach, items you acquire on the bonus scavenger hunt, and safety wear like helmets and lights 👀. Furthermore, there will be a cash egg to find, and any race participant may redeem it. Actual cash will not be inside, must be redeemed. If you read this far, you may want to bring a bag or have jersey pockets 😉. Special shoutout to @klaka_klaka_reclaim for making wallets for the 1st place winners, and keychain reflectors for 2nd and 3rd places. If you have any donations or items for raffle or place winners, please send a message by Friday. #alleycatrace #longbeach #queerspace #bikecourier #bikelife

Let’s choose a culture of repair and reuse where the things we already have are valued, cared for, and kept in use. Our seasonal Fixit Clinics are one way we bring that idea to life. At our last clinic, 88 community members brought in more than 100 items and worked alongside volunteer fixers to give them another chance. Together we repaired 74 items and kept 680 pounds out of the waste stream! Now we’re getting ready to do it all again on November 15! Bring something that needs a little love and work alongside a fixer to troubleshoot it. Or join us as a volunteer fixer and help someone else figure out what might be possible. You don’t need to be an expert to volunteer. Fixit Clinics are all about leaning into your curiosity, opening things up, sharing what you know, and learning together along the way. Sign up to bring an item or volunteer as a fixer through the link in our bio. We can’t wait to see what we fix together! ————- P.S. For the first time, there will be drop-off stations for recycling for the following items: · Batteries - rechargeable and single-use, no car batteries (recycled through WM and Staples) · Eyeglasses, sunglasses, and hearing aids (Lions Club Int’l “Recycle for Sight”) · Wine corks (Total Wine & More, “ReCork”) · Toner and ink cartridges (Staples) #fixitclinic #longbeach #repair

🌟 COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: JEREMY SWIFT 🌟 Our second Biking While Black Community Spotlight features Jeremy Swift, co-founder of Black Kids On Bikes and leader of Freedom Ride LA at @ciclavia in Lemiert Park - June 2026! And folks—Jeremy’s message was sermon-like! He did not simply tell us what he does. Jeremy opened up and shared the personal experiences and life-giving moments that shaped who he is and why he is so deeply committed to riding with community. Like @giovanni_stewart aka “Gio shared in our first Community Spotlight, Jeremy reminded us that this work is about so much more than bicycles. It is about our lives, our healing, our purpose, and what becomes possible when we transform our experiences into something that can help others. Through @freedomridela—a bicycling community and mobile bicycle tune-up service powered by Black Kids On Bikes—Jeremy and his team bring bicycle repair, education, safety, and care directly to communities across Los Angeles. His testimony was powerful. His commitment is real. And his message is one we need to hear. 🚲 Listen to Jeremy’s journey. 🚲 Learn more about the work of Black Kids On Bikes and Freedom Ride LA. 🚲 Witness what community care and purpose look like in motion. This is why we created the Biking While Black Community Spotlight: to honor the people doing the work, preserve their stories, and give our community the opportunity to hear directly from the people helping move us forward. #BikingWhileBlack #JeremySwift #FreedomRideLA #BlackKidsOnBikes #CommunitySpotlight

Thank you @stormyjewelz for blessing my sweet potato with her beautiful charm bracelet. And shout out to @pedalmovement for the free valet for my wheels why we got our groove on!

What a great game day. We loved tailgating for the LB Coast game and getting there together on two wheels. 🚲⚾ A huge thank-you to Pedal Movement for making the ride-in experience seamless with bike valet. It was a great reminder that the journey to the game can be just as fun as the game itself. Ride together. Rally together. At Ball2Bike, we champion athletes as they move beyond competitive sport and into their next chapter—through movement, meaningful connection, and community that lasts. Did we mention the bike is also family friendly and low impact on your knees? 😜 #Ball2Bike #BikeValet #LongBeach #GameDayRide #Cycling
