It’s hard to believe it’s been 3 years since we started BYOV. What an honor it’s been to host and teach, but also learn and grow as a DJ. It’s such a wonderful part of my week and I’m so glad to have the opportunity to share so many wonderful memories with everyone. This weeks BYOV will mark the 3rd anniversary of our start and I will start an extra hour early to help accommodate any extra time for people to spin. I hope you’ll join us in the celebration and come spin some records. I want to thank anyone who has ever come out to spin with us, it wouldn’t be an open decks without all of you.

Detroit Music Scene this share is near and dear to my heart. This is @drew_boro of @wanepoeticmusic and he is my friend. I met him almost two years ago now at an Open mic @copperhopbrewing and he is as kind as can be. He is a family man, loving father and husband and a musician. And the first song I ever heard him sing was about the peripheral neuropathy he felt during cancer treatment. He sent me into instant tears with his song as I know that feeling all too well from my own cancer treatment a handful of years ago. Drew and I instantly clicked and every time I hear his thoughtful songs my soul is touched. When I first met him he was a year out of cancer treatment and cancer free.. and a couple months ago when he shared with me that his cancer had come back and he would be starting treatment again my heart dropped. He is currently fighting this beast and if you know him and love him or even if you yourself have been touched by cancer in some way, please continue to send positive vibes, encouragement and prayers his way. And if you or your family is touched by cancer in someway, I am sending positive vibes your way as well.

I refuse to cut this down for any algorithm. This is one is for you Drew. For your family. For your friends. For your son. The whole video in all its beauty.. the community that you charged up, the community you are a part of that loves and supports you and we are in your corner. I am in your corner buddy. Keep fighting.

Safe to say we had a great time last night. Thanks to everyone who came out to show their support and christen the studio, thanks to Kenny and Pedro for making this all happen, and big thanks to the bands that came out to share their talent and art with us. We will definitely be doing more events like these in the future.

Detroit Music Scene do you want to be part of community and go to programming where you can enjoy playing music and singing? It was so fun being a part of this. I don’t play an instrument anymore but I even picked up a tambourine and had a blast with this show put on my @detroitmuscollab and lead by the amazing @brionriborn of @barelyonmusic I had soo much fun surrounded by so many amazing musicians and wonderful people. And if you don’t play an instrument come anyways. You can dance around and feel the vibes in this amazing new beautiful space of @detroit_design_district

Please enjoy this fun moment where my friend Courtney of @detroitmuscollab and I danced around and rapped to @willsmith “Fresh Prince of Belle Air”. Bet you didn’t know I was SO good at rapping hahah just kidding, I clearly can’t rap at all. But I can dance and have fun and feel good about life in this beautiful atmosphere. The next one is going to August 13th. Please go follow @detroitmuscollab and @detroit_design_district for all the up to date happenings for future events.
