The Trash Bag Kittens are 4.5 months old now and are available for adoption! Roux (aka Doe) the gray tabby has already been adopted 🙌🏼 but Brooklyn (aka Ray), Carl (aka Mi), and Rugby (aka Fa) have been patiently waiting for their own forever home(s)! They’ve been at Pet Food Express in Sonoma, CA for a month and a half now and haven’t received any applications 😔 Black cat stigma is unfortunately so real, but I know their perfect home is out there!

Visit HSNB.org to fill out an adoption application and/or visit them at Pet Food Express in Sonoma, CA. They are social, playful, and so easy to love!

I’ve been feeding the strays that come by my house for a while but realized that that doesn’t really help the cat over population problem. So as a cat lady, I inevitably got involved in TNR.. and I have the laziest TNR setup!

I feed the cats right outside my front door so they’re already familiar. When my local TNR organization, @theperfectcatchrescue, has appointments, I set the trap and see if I get lucky! The cats are returned after they’ve had a day or two to recover from their surgery.

Although it can be equal parts exhilarating and stressful, it feels so good knowing I’m directly helping to prevent the suffering of dozens of unwanted kittens right here in my neighborhood!

There are so many elements and roles to TNR and countless dedicated volunteers doing this work. If this inspires you, look into the TNR organizations in your area and sign up to get involved!

Did you know milkweed is the only plant a monarch butterfly will lay her eggs on? Monarch caterpillars only eat milkweed so the plant is absolutely essential for their survival. There are many different species of milkweed so make sure to choose the kind that is NATIVE to your region because they have different seasonal growths which is timed with the butterfly’s migration. Also, don’t forget to plant native flowers so the adult butterflies don’t go hungry as well! They need a whole ecosystem to survive 💗🐛🦋

Seeing these butterflies brings instant joy. If you live in their migration path, go to your local nursery today and plant yourself some native milkweed and native flowers!

Pippin surprised us with 5 babies just four days ago.. a day before she was scheduled to be spayed! I’ll do a recap of her story soon. She’s been a fantastic mom so far and the kittens are all well fed, clean, and growing so fast!

To celebrate our new teen mom, I made her a “cake” with her favorite @inaba_northamerica Churu treat, @weruva wet food, and a @bonkers_pets Purr Pop!

So far, taking care of a mama cat with kittens is SO MUCH easier than caring for bottle babies. I just wonder where all her kitten’s poops go 😅💩
