A free tennis clinic for Peekskill middle school students this week is part of a larger effort to bring the sport back to local schools.

Backed by a USTA grant, the Peekskill Racket Association is launching new opportunities for students and hopes to lay the groundwork for the return of high school tennis teams.

Hey besties!
I won’t lie to you besties, there’s almost like, too much going on this weekend . 3 whole pages of Saturday happenings, in and around Peekskill. I ran out of tags besties… I’m so sorry if I didn’t tag someone mentioned. Lmk if you like the inclusion of things slightly out of our area that feature our friends…or not. As always, this is a Work in progress. I’m just a doll, a very exhausted and stressed out doll at that.

You have to wait until tomorrow to check out the song of the week “Joseph it’s me” by the incredible @_tjdouglas but please listen.

Peekskill hasn’t had a high school tennis team in over seven years, even as tennis participation nationwide reaches record highs.

Founded in 2024, the Peekskill Racket Association is working to change that by making tennis accessible to all. The organization connected Peekskill schools with the USTA, which provided equipment and professional training for physical education teachers, and has expanded access through low-cost lessons at Depew Park and Woodside Elementary.

Their next session begins January 10, 2026. Registration is available through Community Pass.
