Pure Love, the new album from @gabriellacilmi, is out today.

235 are massively proud to have played a part in this record, and we’ll no doubt be celebrating its release all weekend.

Gabriella says:

“For a long time I wasn’t sure what kind of record I wanted to make. I spent years running away from myself, believing the key to this album was abandoning my past. Then I was shown a video of me at 12, belting out the Rolling Stones’ ‘Jumping Jack Flash’, stomping my feet and singing my heart out, and it hit me. It reconnected me with her, her joy, and the music that made me want to sing in the first place.

So I began to revisit all the versions of myself: the girl who was signed at 13, the teenager living out her dream playing around the world, and the woman with a music industry hangover who felt lost and misunderstood. To make this record I had to journey inward, which is why ‘Pure Love’ feels like a homecoming.

Learning to let go of perfection in the recording process was a big part of it too. We recorded to tape, with the whole band together in one room, and I really think that helped us capture an extra piece of magic.”

George Fenton was one of Britain’s great film composers, whose extraordinary music brought some of the most memorable films and programmes to life.

Throughout his remarkable career, George won two Emmys, received two Grammy nominations and was nominated for five Oscars, including for Best Song for “Cry Freedom” and Best Score for Gandhi, Cry Freedom, Dangerous Liaisons and The Fisher King. His beautiful and unforgettable scores also became an important part of David Attenborough’s The Blue Planet, Planet Earth and Frozen Planet.

George’s music touched millions of people around the world. His work will continue to be heard, remembered and loved for generations to come.

George Fenton is survived by his wife, Amanda; ex-wife Jane; children Gemma, Grace and Bridget; and grandchildren Lola, Audrey, Alfred, George, Frank and Beatrice.

Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

And I fell like rain is falling down
I fell like a stone against the ground
This emptiness inside my heart
Has been there from the start

I fell like rain is falling down
I fell like a stone against the ground
This emptiness inside my soul
Has been there all along
