Great week at the ASPS Annual Meeting in Houston!

Our resensation panel was a big success, thanks to an amazing group of panelists.

I’m especially proud of our Mayo Clinic Arizona residents and students who presented their research. They’re so talented, and their enthusiasm is inspiring. They’re the future of plastic surgery.

Friday night, we had a wonderful dinner with our Mayo Clinic plastic surgery colleagues from Arizona, Minnesota, and Florida. With 30 faculty across the Mayo Enterprise, we’re one of the largest academic plastic surgery groups in the world. Saturday’s Mayo alumni reception was packed and full of enthusiasm for our programs.

I’m proud to serve as an @plasticsurgeryasps mentor for @medtechinnovator and to support the work of GenAssist. Thank you to Bill Perry for his enthusiastic support and for championing this program within ASPS.

It was great to catch up with my ASPS Legislative Advocacy Committee colleagues. I’m honored to be stepping into the Vice Chair role on the Regulatory Subcommittee.

Sensation can be lost after mastectomy and can have a profound effect on quality of life after breast reconstruction. As surgeons we can make a beautiful reconstruction. This doesn’t always mean the breast will function like a normal breast. Some women describe it feeling alien. Dr Anne Peled and Dr Ziv Peled are both surgeons in San Francisco who pioneered sensation preservation mastectomy. I discuss it here in this video. When I moved to the Bay Area almost 10 years ago, I didn’t have any family in the area. Lucky for me, that changed when I met @drannepeled and @peledsurgery and the most amazing kids on planet Earth, Char, Evie, and Simon.

My friendship origin story with Anne and Ziv is a little wild because Anne was my breast surgeon and Ziv was my nerve preservation surgeon for my mastectomy 😭. AKA they saved my life. But since my breast surgeries in 2019 they’ve literally become my family. And this weekend they threw me the most amazing, loving, and astonishingly beautiful space-and-stars themed baby shower I could have ever dreamed of!!!!!!

The kids decorated (like they did EVERYTHING), my dad was there, and soo many of our friends and loved ones came — even from out of town 😩. We felt SO loved and had the very best time celebrating baby.

Thank you to the Peleds for throwing the baby shower of my dreams (and for being our family), to everyone who came from near and far, and to EVERYONE who has made us feel so supported and loved as we transition into the most exciting - and nerve-wracking! - chapter yet.

JUST 8 WEEEKS LEFT UNTIL WE MEET BABY BOY (WTF)!!!

Nanofat + PRP: Emerging Regenerative Therapies for the treatment of mature painful scars. The words of the patient, his experience and the photos tell the whole story. Doctors and medical students are taught that scars are incurable. One of the greatest parts of medicine is that learning never stops.

This year’s @san.diego.arts was an incredible opportunity to share ideas with colleagues, present new concepts, moderate discussions, and record conversations for The Vector of Aging alongside some of the brightest minds in plastic surgery, regenerative medicine, and aesthetics.

What made this meeting especially meaningful was the chance to sit down with many of the surgeons, scientists, and educators whose research, mentorship, and innovation helped shape my own education and perspective as a plastic surgeon. To now exchange ideas as colleagues is both humbling and inspiring.

Throughout the conference and podcast interviews, we explored some of the most exciting topics shaping the future of our field, including regenerative medicine, the role of AI in aesthetic practice, exosomes and tissue response, GLP-1–associated facial aging, periorbital rejuvenation, hair restoration, longevity, and where evidence-based innovation is taking aesthetic medicine next.

Thank you to everyone who shared their knowledge, challenged perspectives, and contributed to these conversations. Advancing our specialty has always been a collaborative effort, and I’m grateful to continue learning from those who have dedicated their careers to pushing it forward.
