A historic day for @georgemason

Yesterday, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Basketball and Academic Performance Center, a transformational project that will elevate the student-athlete experience for years to come. The facility will bring together dedicated basketball, atheletic performance, and academic spaces to support student-athletes on the court, in the classroom and beyond.

We’re proud to be building alongside @perkinswill_dc and the George Mason Athletics team and are excited to get this project underway.

Go Patriots! 🏀 #doyleconco

What does it look like when design puts people, community, and well-being at the center?

@asid_hq’s National Awards recognize projects that advance health and well-being, foster more inclusive communities, and respond to environmental challenges. This year, we’re proud to have three of our projects recognized across two FOCUS categories.

Project Spotlight: A new workplace for FM Global in Reston.

GCS-SIGAL completed a 30,000 SF interior fit out for FM Global’s new Reston office, transforming the building’s only unoccupied floor into a thoughtfully designed, flexible workplace.

FM Global is one of the world’s leading commercial property insurers, helping organizations prevent losses through engineering, research, and risk management expertise.

The completed space includes conference rooms, collaboration areas, private offices, huddle rooms, a café and full-service kitchen, meditation room, wellness suite, reception area, and a 64-seat training room with an operable partition. An outdoor terrace adds another space for employees to gather, work, and connect.

From everyday workspaces to training, wellness, and collaboration, the renovated floor gives FM Global a workplace designed to support its team and the way they work today.

Thank you to Perkins&Will, our dedicated trade partners, and our project team, Marcus, Yosabet, and Carl, for their collaboration and commitment to bringing this project to completion.

@bowiestateuniversity’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Center is woven into the fabric of campus—a place every student will pass through at some point during their academic journey. Customized, technology-rich learning environments create a stage where students at Maryland’s oldest HBCU are “empowered to speak” and “destined to soar,” while celebrating Bowie State’s history as a diverse institution and Dr. King’s ideals of empowerment, justice, equity, love, and community.

“This is an artistic, highly technical, beautiful facility,” says Dr. Otis Thomas, Department Chair of Communications at Bowie State University. “This is one of a kind. You won’t see this any place else.”

Inside the latest issue of ArchitectureDC magazine: Whitman Walker’s Max Robinson Center is highlighted for its “meaningful,” “welcoming,” and “crisply-executed” design, along with other community assets across DC.

We are proud to have led the design of the Max Robinson Center’s core and shell, with @perkinswill_dc leading the interior design for the clinic.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to equity and uplifting communities like Ward 8 and the population served by @whitmanwalker. As @michael.winstanley is quoted in the article, “This is architecture in support of public benefit.”

✨ Rosé, charcuterie, great company, and inspiring conversations... now that's my kind of happy hour! 🥂✨

Had such a wonderful time at Reps & Refreshments at Perkins&Will last night! It was an evening filled with meaningful conversations, introductions to new product solutions, and connecting with so many talented members of our design community.

One of my favorite moments was sharing a few of Kimball International's sustainability initiatives, including the 🌎 Belize Bag Project, which transforms leftover fabrics into beautiful handcrafted bags while supporting artisans in Belize, and ♻️ SEAQUAL®, textiles made from recovered marine plastic and ocean-bound waste.

I love opportunities like this where we can talk about great design, innovative solutions, and making a positive impact all at the same time.

A big thank you to @perkinswill for the invitation and hospitality. It was a delight to be part of such a fun and inspiring evening! 💙

“Have the courage to face the uncertainties of the future.”

These words from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1964 Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech inspired the facade of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center at @bowiestateuniversity, where the quote is translated into waveforms expressed through the building’s louvres and windows.

At the heart of campus life, the Center serves as a hub for learning, creativity, and connection. A tribute wall honors Dr. King's life and legacy, while artwork and graphic elements throughout the building celebrate the importance of using one's voice to create positive change. In the spirit of Juneteenth, the Center reflects a shared belief in the power of education to advance opportunity and inspire future leaders.

“Every student receiving a Bowie State education will pass through this building at some point in their curriculum,” says Bowie State University President Aminta H. Breaux. “The skills they learn here will give them the self-confidence and practical tools to navigate real-world challenges in future career paths.”

#LetsTalk: Rooftop Design.

The most valuable real estate in a city isn't always at street level. Increasingly, it's found above it.

Rooftops are being transformed into places that support recreation, community, well-being, and a stronger connection to nature. From community terraces and outdoor workspaces to gardens that promote biodiversity, rooftop spaces can serve many purposes. They can also help manage stormwater, reduce urban heat, and improve performance, creating positive impacts that extend beyond the building itself.

What was once overlooked space is now playing a larger role in supporting people, strengthening communities, and contributing to healthier, more resilient cities.
