POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

People line up at 6 a.m. in front of supermarkets to buy fireworks.
Waiting for hours.
Spending money they claim they don’t have.
Just to burn it. Literally.

For a few seconds of noise.
A flash.
An explosion.

And what’s left behind?

Dead birds.
Terrified animals shaking, running, crashing into fences, windows, roads.
Pets with panic attacks.
Wildlife that doesn’t survive the night.

The air you’ll breathe tomorrow?
Poisoned.
Fine dust, heavy metals, smoke.

The streets?
Covered in trash.
Burnt plastic. Cardboard. Debris.

All of this — for “fun”.

While in other parts of the world, people wake up every day to explosions that are not a choice.
Bombs instead of fireworks.
Fear instead of celebration.
No countdown. No champagne. No way out.

Strange how explosions are called “fun” only when they don’t land on your house.
How loud bangs are entertainment only when you’re safe.

If you had ever experienced real bombing, real war, real terror —
you probably wouldn’t be celebrating with noise that sounds exactly the same.

This isn’t tradition.
This isn’t freedom.
This is privilege mixed with selfishness.

It’s choosing your entertainment over life.
Over animals.
Over nature.
Over people living with trauma, PTSD, sensory overload.

And yes — companies happily sell this destruction, counting profits while pretending not to see the damage.
Because money matters more than responsibility.

If your idea of celebration requires explosions, fear, pollution and death —
maybe the problem isn’t “no fireworks”.
Maybe the problem is how empty that celebration really is.

Did you know between 10-12 MILLION animals are killed for dissection in US high school classrooms alone?!

But students don’t have to harm animals in order to learn with amazing tools like digital dissection simulations or synthetic models like KindFrog from TeachKind!

LEAP students at @Blackberry Creek recently learned the basics of frog anatomy and also discussed ethical issues surrounding dissection, terminal surgeries at vet school hospitals, and more.

School dissection coming up? Ask your teachers for animal-free learning alternatives and encourage your friends do the same!

Legally you have to be provided with an equitable learning opportunity that doesn’t hurt animals; all you have to do is ask.

Let’s keep frogs (and all animals) in their natural ecosystems where they belong. 🫶🐸

@leap4animals + @teachkindteachers = a win for animals! #animalfreedissection #animalrights #leapforanimals #wildlifeconservation #youthleadership

Frogs, cow eyeballs, fetal pigs… these are some of the most common animals used for dissection in high school science classes in the US.

But did you know that research estimates somewhere between 10-12 million animals per year are killed specifically for dissection in high school alone?!

This is a staggering number, not only because of the amount of individuals harmed, but because there are so many wonderful alternatives to dissection that can help students learn anatomy and biology.

At LEAP we are proud to use Kind Frog (synthetic frogs with realistic body systems) to give students the learning experience of dissection while encouraging them to think critically and have important discussions about the ethical implications of killing animals for science.

Stay tuned this week to see the @blackberrycreek LEAP students engage in this fun, hands-on workshop that taught basic frog anatomy and ignited some powerful conversations about medical ethics (for humans and non humans), terminal surgeries at veterinary schools, and how to help their own high schools transition to less harmful ways of teaching and learning.

Thank you @peta2 for your collaboration with the Kind Frogs and for making this workshop possible!

Cows give milk because they are mothers, not because they are cows. Cow's milk is meant for cow babies, not human babies, and definitely not human adults. These are two simple facts that look so obvious and yet are so well hidden in plain sight that even a lot of adults have a “Eureka” moment when they hear this for the first time.

Through social conditioning and industry marketing from a very young age, we often believe that cow’s milk is somehow very important for our survival. We also believe that there’s no harm in taking it because cows produce milk anyway and if we don’t milk them they’d probably explode. Of course, none of this is true.

We can easily survive and thrive without stealing breast milk from another species just like any other mammal does. Cows wouldn’t explode cause they naturally produce only as much milk as their baby needs and only as long as their baby needs it.

Once we have these facts in check it’s easy to notice that there’s something odd going on. If the cows give milk only when they have a baby and yet we take that milk the first question that comes to mind is: what happens to the cow baby?

Well, if the baby is male it will often be “discarded” right on the farm as he’s considered a waste product in the milk industry. Alternatively, he will be sent to be raised for veal. Which means 16 weeks until his life is violently taken from him.

If the baby is female she will be separated from her mom, raised to replace her, and continue that vicious cycle, but it is not uncommon that she gets sent to be raised for veal as well.

In the end a mother cow, after this cycle of artificial insemination, giving birth, having a calf taken away, and being milked by humans, repeats 3 times is no longer profitable for the business as her milk production drops. At this point, she is only about 5 years old and her body gets abused one last time and turned into cheap meat and pet food.

Like @earthlinged @surgeactivism concluded in his incredible animated movie “Milk” (please watch); if the color of milk we drink would reflect the reality of its production it would be blood red not white.

I see a spark in you,
You’re just like me
Longing for kindness
For a place to be free

How do people not see it?
How can they do this to you?
You can feel the pain
Just the same as they do

Is it easier to ignore?
Bury heads in the sand
Look away wanting more
Paying for your bitter end

I see a spark in you
A soul mirrored in your eye
Just a peaceful being
Looking for a peaceful life

You’re just like me
I’m just like you
A tiny spark of life
Glowing for a moment or two
