Early in the design process of our ‘Woodland Ramble’ project, our clients asked for a “tapestry of light and shadow created by the rhythm of windows and piers.”

The closely spaced wood members of this pergola are one expression of that idea, casting a changing grid of light and shade across the shingles and terrace throughout the day.

"The otherness of Bordeaux also comes from taking much of what is accepted about wine and turning it on its head. The vines here, for example, are for the most part low-lying, in places just feet away from the river, even in villages such as Pauillac or Saint-Julien, where the vineyard land can sell for many millions of euros per acre, and the labels are in permanent residence on the world’s greatest wine lists. You can find soaring landscapes if you look—head to the limestone cliffs of Saint-Émilion and Entre-deux-Mers if that’s your thing—but for the most part this is not a region where a fear of heights will hinder the exploration of the most famous names."

Her and Peter's new book Bordeaux Chronicle presents a deeply evocative portrait of the world’s most celebrated wine region. These photographs capture a viticultural world rooted in tradition, modest architecture, and the lived experiences of multigenerational winemaking families.

And we DO mean that it's wine-o-clock. The White Hart will be serving Chateau Corbin Montagne Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France that evening; the white wine has not been chosen yet. 👀

For my guest edit of @antiquesmag, the visionary designer, writer, and dealer David Lê gave us all the gift of an interview with Joe D’Urso - a hero of mine and a legendary designer of spaces and furniture. D’Urso’s work represents an essential, but sometimes overlooked, building block in the canon of spacemaking, and David’s reflection on their conversation - interrogating the idea of minimalism and its ability to highlight what the real subject of a room may be (the flower, the man, all that is ephemeral…) - is deeply moving. @knoll lent furniture designed by D’Urso, which David worked with @tarabanski to photograph for the story - a dream! And we were lucky enough to include photos from Peter Aaron’s archive of some of D’Urso’s most iconic projects from the 70s - the apartments of Reed Evins, Calvin Klein, Larry Kramer.. each of them important reference points for so many designers today. Thank you from the bottom of my heart @david.micah.le ❤️
