Some snapshots of the Listening Party!! Celebrating the release of Snapshots and Serenades with so many people we love made for a night we will never forget! We’ve spent SO much time with this album over the past few years. Getting to finally sit down (well… stand for the most part) together and listen to it with a room full of people was surreal. We’re so grateful this music is out in the world and that you’re listening to it!! If you haven’t heard it yet, Snapshots and Serenades is streaming everywhere and available for digital download + physical CD. Thank you x infinity! Kathryn, Alina, & Peter

Musicking in the Fall 2026 semester, part 2, featuring @sputterbox’s album release party in Manhattan. I was once again overstimulated by the loud noises, poor lighting, and @aaron.petrovich forgetting my name, but all was OK because I got a hold of @alinatamborini’s Polaroid camera and proceeded to have so much fun with the camera that I used up an entire case of film cartridges, leaving many attendees with horrible Polaroids of themselves. I’ve spared you the horrible Polaroids of other people and put the least worst Polaroid of myself at the very end. Congratulations, everyone! #friends #excolleagues #music #musicking

Six composers. Six pieces. Six paths to Snapshots and Serenades. These pieces came to us through collaborations, residencies, commissions, adaptations, and our most-googled search from the first three years of Sputter Box: “music for clarinet, voice, and percussion.” However they found their way to us, these composers and their music have become a huge part of our ensemble. Collaboration is at the core of Sputter Box, and we’re so grateful that these collaborations are now part of our debut album! Meet the composers behind our debut album: Martha Callison Horst - “Exchanges” Allison McIntosh - “Snapshot of the Red Eclipse”
 Filippo Scaramucci - “Vita vana”
Daijana Wallace - “stillness to……..” Bethany Younge - “Doublespeak” Brendan Sweeney - “Séance Serenade” And the artistic team behind our debut album: Kakia Gkoudina - “stillness to……..” Video Artist & Album Artwork Mike Tierney - Audio Engineer New Focus Recordings - Record Label Kathryn Vetter - Clarinetist Alina Tamborini - Vocalist Peter White - Percussionist Snapshots and Serenades, out Friday, September 18th, through New Focus Recordings. The first full-length album for clarinet, voice, and percussion. Streaming everywhere! Listen to a preview and order your copy at the link in our bio!

The final stop of the summer, and easily the most challenging, and deeply rewarding chapter yet: @stauntonmusicfestival 12 concerts and 19 pieces later, my heart (and hands!) are completely full. From a 45-minute marathon of Terry Riley’s In C with an incredible 10-piece ensemble to premiering new arrangement of Stravinsky’s Firebird by @bsmithpercussion and @peterwhiteperc, Wuorinen’s percussion quartet, JP Jofre’s 5th Season and Double Concerto, Leah Reid’s Clatter, and solo marimba tango at @silverlinetheatre, every single moment on stage felt electric. Playing with artists of this caliber elevates everything. So much grace, passion, and brilliance in one place. Missing everyone already—until next time! #musicfestivals #percussionist #chambermusic #打擊樂 #percussionistofinstagram

Finally! I just received the recording of the emotional premiere of my work "Que nuestras voces estallen en delirios de luz" for soprano, bass clarinet, and percussion by the amazing @sputterbox at @nmopgram this past June 13, 2026. Go to my YouTube channel or my soundcloud to listen to it: https://youtu.be/C4dmIPEw7LM A work that is about not remaining silent and indifferent to any type of violence, oppression, and injustice, especially in the humanitarian crisis we live in today. Dedicated to the people who try to make this world better and more just, especially to those in Mexico who search tirelessly to find their families, their friends, the missing ones. “May all those voices find their riverbed and overflow like a wild horse, flooding the deafening silence in which we dwell May all our voices burst in deliriums of light!” Thank you so much to @alinatamborini , @kat_vet and @peterwhiteperc for their performance, their effort, the great atmosphere during the rehearsals, and all the days we spent together at NMOP. Thanks @guaguanco127 for the recording and mixing, as well as @carolgeebee for the video!

No better place to make music than the woods! Many thanks to @nmopgram for an amazing festival and to @t.gotsch_, Myles Kellerman, and @rodrigo.espino.35 for trusting us with your music! Oh also we played on a lake! We’ll make a separate post about that one, it was pretty sick. 📸: @walking_singing (Photo 1)

Thank you so much to everyone who came to and supported our 8th Year Gala and Fundraiser! It was a whirlwind weekend playing such a fun show and then heading straight to New Music on the Point. We’ll share pictures and videos from the festival ASAP! A few more thanks! First, to all of the composers whose music we love playing so much! Second, to @tenriculturalinstitute and their amazing staff. What a beautiful venue! Then, to Mie White for recording the event (pictures and videos to come 😉). And finally, to the Vetters and @aaron.petrovich for helping the event run smoothly. Everything we raised went to support our Snapshots and Serenades Album Campaign! The campaign continues until September 18th, so if you feel inclined to check out ways you can get involved, link is, as always, in bio!
