[Weave Up+ - French National Tour 2026]
Supoorted by the Creative Europe programme, and led by HS_Projets association within the Weave Up+ project, the French National Tour has come to an end few days ago.
.
10 days during which we had the time to reflect, to share joyful moments, to compulsively seek out new ways of researching and creating.
On top of exploring materiality of different wicker breeds and sheep fleece, this residency was a time where other kind of informations were shared. Such as how the willow grow, what efforts, soil and care it needs ; which active part within the wool allows it to be felted ; what kind of invasive plants are ecological barometers when it comes to the health of our environment, etc. So many subjects that bring us nearer to natural ecosystem, life, heritage, hand production, and the experiment to cross basketry and felt.
This National Tour was the 1st step of a collaboration between generations, a way to share knowledge between all, to connect our European territories, to interweave our backgrounds and futures.

Thanks to the master designers Elisabeth Berthon and Thomas Louineau, harvester and farmer Ronan Bourniguault alongside Marina Vieira de Sousa participation, to our incredible photographer Laurence Jeanson, and of course our 6 participants; Kira Becker, Laura Caroen, Agathe Cros-Lipp, Marija Garnak, Emilie Lay and Faustine Pellet!
.
Weave Up+ is a project within Creative Europe programme, co-funded by the European Union. Thanks also to the Relais Culture Europe for their help during the application!

The French National Tour, organised by the HS_Projets association, from September, 18th to 27, in the Cantal region is an opportunity to explore the properties of the felt and the basketry, thanks to Elisabeth Berthon and Thomas Louineau expertises, with six young textile professionals; Kira Käthe Becker, Agathe Cros-Lipp, Laura Caroen, Marija Garnak, Emilie Lay and Faustine Pellet!
This national tour is one of the many that will be made during the Weave Up+ project, cofunded by the European Union

Elisabeth Berthon
Elisabeth Berthon felts wool, just as she did years ago when she favoured natural fibres exclusively whilst creating garments for women, both for daily life and for the stage, in Paris. Today, her experience as a felt-maker enables her to undertake a wide range of projects, whether creating costumes, sculptures and all manner of curiosities that inspire her, or passionately passing on her expertise.

Thomas Louineau
Basket weaver for over twenty years, Thomas Louineau uses materials from his own willow plantation, as well as wild fibres. Employing 11 different basket-weaving techniques, he sees his craft as an intimate connection with nature, and creates everything from everyday objects to art installations.

Kira Becker
Based on multisensory and multiperspective research, Kira Käthe Becker combines fieldwork with design. Therefore, they are often in close dialogue with various stakeholders from other disciplines. It is important to them to engage sensitively with the surroundings and to design with materials, other humans and nature.

Laura Caroen
As a textile artist, Laura Caroen is fascinated by the potential of flexible materials and specially by the relationship between fibres, landscapes and the communities related to it. Over time, her focus shifted from mastering techniques towards understanding the origins of materials: where fibres come
