Join Us for the San Ramon Domestic Violence Awareness Walk 💜

A Community Gathering in Solidarity & Strength

This October, join Narika and our community partners for a Domestic Violence Awareness Walk in San Ramon as we come together to raise awareness, stand with survivors, and reaffirm our shared commitment to ending domestic violence.

Domestic violence affects individuals, families, and communities in many ways. Creating change begins with breaking the silence, building understanding, and showing survivors that they are not alone. By walking together, we send a powerful message of solidarity, hope, and support for everyone impacted by domestic violence.

Whether you are joining as an advocate, a family member, a friend, or a community member who believes in safer, violence-free homes, your presence matters. Come walk with us, connect with others, and help strengthen a community where everyone deserves to live with safety, dignity, and respect.

“I’m motivated to vote because of the constant attacks on immigrants and the LGBTQ+ community—especially trans and nonbinary folks…It’s incessant! We NEED equal protections.” —Anu Gupta, President of @pflag_srv

At PFLAG, we support LGBTQ+ people by showing up for one another, strengthening our communities, and helping build a future where every person is treated with dignity and respect—and voting is a critical part of that work.

Somehow California was caught totally unprepared for something everyone has known was coming for NEARLY A YEAR.
Here’s the story of how that happened, link in the bio. Also a link in the bio for an easy action you can take to fight for trans kids on Medicaid!

(TLDR incoming, but this is an emergency and all you have to do is copy and paste!)

EMAIL TEMPLATES
1. Email the California Health and Human Services Agency

Maureen.Keffer@CHHS.CA.GOV
Corrin.Buchanan@CHHS.CA.GOV

Subject Line: Please Protect Gender Affirming Care for Medi-Cal Youth!
We are demanding that CHHS take immediate action to ensure that transgender minors are protected when a federal government rule attacking their care goes into effect October 13!

Despite the fact that new Medicaid rules to end federal coverage for Gender Affirming Care for children on October 13th have been in the works since last year, I have just learned that the state of California and the Department of Healthcare Services do not have a plan for how to deliver this care without federal funding.

Everyone has known since December 2025 that this rule was coming, and yet despite requests by advocates, DHHS did not proactively set up a state pathway to provide this care to Medi-Cal children. This care is required by CA state nondiscrimination law. Without decisive action, California's most vulnerable trans youth will lose their healthcare.

The situation is dire, but we're being told that DHHS can't or won't set up this pathway by October 13. I'm especially concerned that:

If providers are unable to get reimbursed simply and easily through Medi-Cal, they may shutter their services.

Without quick action, come October 13, families receiving Medi-Cal may not be able to access Gender Affirming Care at all. Continuity in treatment is particularly important in Gender Affirming Care for patient well-being and mental health. Disruptions in care would be devastating for youth and their families.

Anything but a pathway for Medi-Cal reimbursement greatly risks disrupting continuity of care, and any bandaid that results in a gap in health care services for our state's most vulnerable is unacceptable.

Children are counting on you to fix this problem.

From an Eleven-Year-Old Child to a Lifelong Advocate: My Journey with PFLAG and HRC

I FOUND MY FAMILY. I FOUND MY VOICE. I FOUND MYSELF.

My name is Saida Mahoney. I’m 29, and this is my story.

At ages 11 and 12 my counselor introduced me to both PFLAG and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). I never imagined that one moment would become 19 years of love, acceptance, friendship, advocacy, Pride, and family.

I grew up with these communities while discovering my voice, embracing each and every single one of my LGBTQIA+ identities, my gender identities and navigating my life as a proud transgender person.

PFLAG and HRC welcomed me exactly as I was. They taught me that I BELONG.

For 19 years, I’ve built friendships, made unforgettable memories, celebrated Pride, advocated for equality, and found people who became family.

They didn’t just give me community. They gave me family.

In 2027, I will celebrate my 20th anniversary with both PFLAG and HRC.

20 years of belonging.
20 years of friendship.
20 years of advocacy.
20 years of love.

And I’m not done yet.

To the counselor who introduced 11-year-old and 12 year old me to these organizations: THANK YOU. You changed my life.

To PFLAG and HRC: THANK YOU FOR BELIEVING IN ME, ACCEPTING ME, AND GIVING ME A PLACE TO BELONG.

19 years down.

20 YEARS NEXT.
A LIFETIME TO GO.

Hey allies and partners in the Bay! With the WNBA coming under attack by the orcs, and our @valkyries star Gabby getting a lot of hate for standing up for Trans folks, we're going to show up to the next home game with love and gratitude for these brave women. Come join us, dress in your best trans colors and supportive t-shirts, and make thank you signs to Gabby and Coach Nakase. Let's show them who the REAL fans are.
