TL:DR I’m obsessed with you, my heart is full, and Amazon.theinternet.chainstore.com can’t do what 30 local bookshops just did.

I went on a moto journey to visit other bookshops I hadn’t been to yet for the @greatpghbookcrawl and I made so many new besties and I fell in love w/Pgh all over again AND for the 1st time w/ SO MANY charming Main Streets and little towns I’d never explored.

The CRAWL was such a beautiful and quintessential example of what it means to own a small business. Not only did I get to be a customer again and feel the awe & camaraderie of community spaces, see the love and support of all the crawlers who SHOWED UP, but I got to meet & chat with other shop owners & staff who, despite me feeling nervous at first, met me with the absolute warmest of welcomes everywhere I went. Despite the fact that I’m a cat person, my personality is 100% puppy: I want to be everybody’s best friend, I love adventures, and I LOVE being given treats. This crawl checked all my boxes.

I met Buff from @mysteryloversbookshop and learned that Finland has an excellent alt ice cream scene and gorgeous moto riding, and I will most likely now go there and meet her adopted Finnish fam.

I met Michelle @moden_mercantile and was provided a charger for my dying phone, a Pgh flash tattoo, the coziest vibes, the sweetest shop neighbor, and some super cool history of the Underground Railroad in the area. (also maybe a new riding buddy if we ever have a day off together)

I met Lisa @penguinbookshop and we talked og Wizard of Oz books and upon hearing she hadn’t seen Return to Oz I demanded she promptly go home and do so immediately. Oh the horrors of the Wheelers and oh the haunts of many heads! And it turns out Penguin’s own Frankie, who was doing her own crawling at Stay Gold when I was there, rides motos too! *squeel*

This past week I visited my last round of stores for the Pittsburgh Book Crawl! 15 in total! This round includes @amazingbooksandrecords (downtown location!), @posmanbooks , @woollybearbooks , @cityofasylumbooks and @citybookspgh !At each one I bought a banned book or a book of a frequently challenged subject. I will be saving most of these for next year's Banned Books reading challenge!

Featuring:
📖 "Gentleman Jack" by Anne Choma
📖 "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck
📖 "Medicine River" by Mary Pember
📖 "The Family Roe" by Joshua Prager
📖 "The African Kings" by Mary Cable
📖 "Asian American Histories of the United States" by Catherine Choy

I'm honored to have been an ambassador for this year's Pittsburgh Book Crawl! I'm already looking forward to next year's!

My 2026 Pgh Book Crawl haul. 💜

Here’s everything that came home with me this week + Tortellini stealing the spotlight, lol.

It was such an honor to be a @pghbookcrawl ambassador this year. I had so much fun…meeting so many people, discovering new to me bookstores and of course coming home with quite the haul.

I managed to visit 17 bookstores this year (although my passport only has 16 stamps because I forgot to get stamped somewhere. 😂).

I thought it was only fitting that my last stop was also where I got my first passport stamp this year…so I stopped back into @blythebooks_pgh today to turn in my Passport + Blythe Books Summer Camp reading log and officially wrap up my crawl.

📚 QOTD: have you ever participated in a book crawl? Or did you participate in the 2026 @pghbookcrawl? Any favorite stores or finds?

Open 9-4 today, it’s the last day of the @pghbookcrawl and all we can say is WOW!

Thank you to each and every one of you who trekked all the way to our town to get your stamp and support our shop! We can’t express how much it meant to us.

Also thank you for supporting the crawl and every bookseller who participated. We had an amazing group with fantastic stores and to experience how you supported them all meant the world. We loved seeing how happy everyone was as they discovered new shops, towns and people.

The lesson in this crawl was community. What an unreal book community we have in Pittsburgh. From all the stores supporting one another to all of the readers who created their own adventure, we cannot wait until next year! #bookstore #pittsburghbookcrawl #books #newbrighton #beavercounty

It’s the last two days of the 2026 @pghbookcrawl and your last opportunity to get those final stamps for your chance to win some pretty cool prizes!

We just want to thank all of you for all of your support to us and the indie bookstore community over the last week. We felt all the love every single day.

From our regulars coming in to support us like they always do to all of the new faces we met along the way, you’ve been a pretty great crowd over this last week!

So grab your tote bags, fill up your Owala (or whatever drinking vessel you use), and go out to get those stamps!!!

We can’t wait to have you at our new location next year, with coffee and baked goods 😎
