PBC saw another one of our own make the US National Team to compete in the 2025 World Championship Beach Sprints in Turkey! @philiphoyle qualified in the Mixed 2x and continued to train at PBC! Phil has seen success since he was a @usrowing junior NT, @washingtonmrowing, @rowobc and as one of our own - sculling and sweep, Hoyle will always be a part of the speed and excitement! Coach @rumpf.roast supported their training and @prsf_dc assisted with their fees. Congratulations to these two for making the US National Team and international stage… can’t wait to see what’s next! #potomacboatclub #bleedred #yeahboatclub #beachsprints #rowlikeachampion

World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals 2025!
It am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity I had to compete at worlds this year. After only training together for a week, Cate and I were able to come out with the 6th fastest time, but placing 8th overall. We placed lower in time trials than we would have liked, which put us into the rep. After a nail biting finish, we moved on to the quarter finals, ultimately losing to Germany. They went on to win, so I am glad we got beat by the best. I am super proud of the work we put in over the past two weeks and where it has gotten us.
Competing and training in Türkiye alongside such talented athletes has been a dream. I loved being able to learn from the senior team. It has helped me find a completely new level of dedication and drive. That is something I will always carry with me from now on.
It was my first time in Europe so it made the experience even more surreal. I loved meeting all of the other athletes and spectators!
I wanted to thank everyone for being so supportive throughout my whole journey to get to this point. I couldn’t have done it without the help of my coaches Marc and Ben, boat handlers Alyssa and Cara and especially my family. Thank you all so much

🌊 Battling the waves in Antalya! Day 2 of the 2025 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals brought strong winds, big surf, and gritty U.S. performances across the U19 and inclusion events.

🔹 CJW2x – Mary Bain & Cate Cole fought hard in their quarterfinal matchup against Germany, clocking 2:52.88 in a close race to cap a strong showing.
🔹 CJM1x – Ronan Maher stayed composed in tough conditions, finishing second in the time trial (2:53.20) to advance to the Round of 16, where he narrowly fell to Greece in a head-to-head battle.
🔹 CJW1x – Ophelia Weiss improved on her time from Day 1 and showcased her determination, finishing 2.04 seconds faster than yesterday and placing in the top 13 overall.
🔹 CJMIX2x – Ronan Maher & Ophelia Weiss raced with poise in the morning’s second time trial, clocking 2:53.47 and just missing the top eight to advance.
🔹 INMix2x – Philip Hoyle & Amy Pietrafitta placed sixth in the time trial after battling a seat issue mid-race, earning a spot in tomorrow’s repechage.

Next up:
➡️ Hoyle & Pietrafitta return for the INMix2x repechage
➡️ Chris Bak (CM1x), Christine Cavallo (CW1x), and Bak & Busse (CMix2x) hit the beach for knockout rounds.
