Happy that Moon Rabbit Landing (2026) has now landed @tokyoatlas_official where it will be on view until December 2026.

With this new six metre high sculpture Leiko Ikemura’s Usagi returns to its Japanese origin.

Very happy about yesterday‘s opening of my new show Translucent at @gallerieaccademiavenezia brining me back to Venice where I started discovering glass as a material for my art in 2021.

TransLucent — The Form of Light is an exhibition dedicated to my glass sculptures.

The works are displayed throughout the museum’s historic galleries in dialogue with masterpieces from the permanent collection, ranging from Paolo Veneziano and Vittore Carpaccio to Titian and Giambattista Tiepolo who i consider as contemporary as myself.

The exhibition brings my own artistic research into conversation with the Venetian painting tradition, creating a journey of iconographic, symbolic, and spiritual connections.

Berengo Studio are delighted to be once again working with the wonderful Leiko Ikemura! We were honoured to work with this dynamic Japanese artist back in 2020. It’s a joy to see her return to Venice with an exhibition at the Gallerie dell’Accademia that focuses on her work in glass, and we’re honoured to be collaborating again on some very special sculptures for the show.

“Leiko Ikemura’s exhibition brings to the Gallerie dell’Accademia a profound reflection on light, fragility, and transcendence. The transparency and immaterial grace of her sculptural medium intertwine with the iconography of our masters — from Paolo Veneziano to Carpaccio, up to Titian and Tiepolo — offering visitors a poetic and profound experience that establishes a dialogue between the great Venetian painting tradition and the languages of contemporary sculpture,” states the Director of the Gallerie dell’Accademia, Giulio Manieri Elia.

Donata Wenders and Leiko Ikemura share a long-standing, close artistic friendship and an intense creative dialogue.
They have been working together for many years. The artists have a deep appreciation for each other’s work. Ikemura draws considerable inspiration from cinematic imagery and poetry, whilst Donata Wenders’ works harmonise closely with Ikemura’s world of painting and sculpture. A shared love of Japanese culture has shaped their long-standing bond.

Today, Leiko Ikemura is celebrating her 75th birthday.

Very happy to announce our participation at TOKYO ATLAS @tokyoatlas_official later this year - an International Art Exhibition aiming to create a platform where art fosters new ways of seeing, thinking and interacting, grounded in Tokyo as a city shaped by intersecting international cultural currents.

🐰We will contribute with an Usagi sculpture in the waterfront area of the Daiba Park, an artificial island built in the late Edo period (1603-1868).
