POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Flashback to a lovely day on the Modern Gardener Program getting to know cob and exploring it as habitat with @becky.rebearth and all the lovely people 💚💚💚
Also flashback to preparing for the workshop with John and Poppy - getting a proper workout digging up clay - enjoyed it very much! 😊💪🏻
And the dessert that Fiona made that day 🫠
And at the end, running to the shape I dug in the clay to see how it filled up after a heavy downpour a few days after!
And the list goes on with good memories.
Happy days - as someone I know would say!

Can seagulls be lesbian? Does bisexuality exist in nature? Which other beings change sex?

The living world is full of lessons in queer liberation. Wild Queers is a space to slow down, get curious, and explore the teachings of the QUEEN of queer, the original MOTHER: Earth 💅🏽

Join @thanet.queers.in.solidarity and @soulwork.co for these queer ecology walks/wheels ♿ exploring natural gems in Margate, as part of Margate Pride month 🏳️‍🌈

A MUST for all nature nerds, but you don't have to be an ‘outdoorsy type’ to join. We know that some green spaces in Thanet can feel inaccessible and even unwelcoming for folks who don’t fit the ‘norm’. It’s time to change that. These walks are designed to centre and explore queer identities, queer bodies and queer politics in relationship to the living world.

🚶🏽‍♀️🧑🏽‍🦽 Walk/wheel friendly

💚 Pay what you can (can be free!)

📍 Margate

📅 11th + 18th August

Open to everyone who believes in queer liberation.
Come as you are. Bring your curiosity, your questions, and whatever helps you feel comfortable. No specialist clothing or gear required.

At Maroon Adventures - WE RIDE.

Living in Margate means we're lucky to have the Viking Trail right on our doorstep. Whether you're cycling to work, riding to the beach or heading off on a weekend adventure, it's never been easier to get out on two wheels. It's great to see even more investment in cycling too, with new bike racks and bike pumps appearing along the seafront, making it even easier for more people to choose the bike.

At Maroon Adventures, we believe every ride is different. Some days it's sunshine and sea views, other days it's fresh air, rain and a good waterproof! Whatever the weather, cycling is one of the best ways to improve your physical and mental wellbeing while slowing down enough to really notice the world around you.

Thanet's coastline is something special. Through the amazing work of @birdwise and the @thanetcoastalproject, there's always more to learn about the wildlife that calls our coast home and how we can all help protect it.

As much as we love the sea, we also love heading inland. Exploring our local woodlands with @pheobe has reminded us just how important these spaces are-for wildlife, cleaner air, biodiversity and our own wellbeing. We need more trees, more woodland and more people who care enough to protect them.

If you've been thinking about getting involved, now's the time. Join one of the fantastic local tree planting groups, lend a hand when you can, and help grow a greener Thanet for future generations.

🚲 Ride more. 🌳 Plant more. 💚 Explore more.

Come and join us on a Maroon Adventure.

I met with my fellow learners for the Circle of Life Rediscovery Nature-Based Practitioner course in the beautiful Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest.

Over the day, we experienced a range of nature-based practices, including mindful wandering, sensory awareness, sit spots, deep listening, nature invitations and creative reflection. Rather than learning these activities from a facilitator's perspective, we first experienced them ourselves.

Being on the receiving end was a powerful reminder of how slowing down, paying attention and connecting with the natural world can help us reconnect with ourselves and with others. We shared poetry, stories and personal experiences in a space of trust, and it was incredible how quickly those shared moments deepened our connection as a group.

It reminded me that nature isn't just somewhere we visit-it's something we can build a relationship with.

As I continue my journey as a Nature-Based Practitioner, I'm excited to bring these experiences into Maroon Adventures and create more opportunities for people to connect with nature, community and themselves.

Don’t Miss: We Are Here’s FIRST Tiny Roastery Concert!

Margate’s own @kkailou.world is going live with a stripped-back midday set you can watch from wherever you feel most comfy!

The idea around TRC is to provide access to performances for folks that may find it tricky to attend, live too far or don’t stay up late.

Expect genre-blurring sounds, poetic lyrics and that soft-to-intense energy Kkailou does so well. Plus, ticket sales are split 50/50 between the artist and disability rights charity Scope.
