I wanted to get back to the basics of making a print on a shirt, so I tried cyanotype on a white tee using sunlight and our Bumwraps logo. What I thought was cool was how much the process reminded me of how we screen print here at Bumwraps. With cyanotype, UV light from the sun forms the image directly on the treated fabric. In our shop, UV light is used to make the stencil that we print through. The blue on my shirt is the actual cyanotype image, while the blue on our screens is emulsion, so they’re completely different materials, but both use light and blocking to create an image. Mostly, I just wanted to make something with my hands, learn a little more about the process, and see what I could make with a white shirt, our logo, and the sun. #cyanotype #screenprint
