OUT TODAY: Phong Tran (@phongs_pc), the Brooklyn-based Composer and Visual Artist, reimagines “Aurora” from Annie Blythe (@annieofthesky) & Brendon Randall-Myers (@brendon.randallmyers) 2025 record with a new remix. Hazy washes and moments of dynamic synth plucks move through Blythe’s performance in waves in this reimagining of “Aurora,” a pillar in the eight-movement work for cello and electronics.

The release comes on the eve of the live chamber orchestra arrangement premiere of Only in the Dark, with Contemporaneous (@econtemp)

The original project grew from a collaboration instigated by cellist and composer Annie Blythe as a way to sustain herself through and heal from a particularly dark depression. Along with composer and guitarist Brendon Randall-Myers, the collective work is motivated by the duo’s respective sensory sensitivities, a desire to honor and affirm connections with their bodies and emotions, and by a desire for creative community.

Throughout the album, the silences and quieter moments often speak louder than the music itself. While some gestures require time to fall, cry or echo, others ask for even more silence, a break for the ears and for the fibers within.

An essential step of our new ballets: time in a theater long before the premiere for our collaborating artists to test out lighting and what the performance might feel and look like. Here @xanderperone from NYCB and @georgiaggreene from Juilliard rehearse and in-progress ballet by @troymacher and @phongs_pc in collaboration with artist @matt.rota

Come see the world premiere Nov 3—5 in NYC.

Just a lot of living

A close family member transitioned recently
A new piece was birthed recently
A new way of centering is finding me

Digging through her home’s memories has yielded a reminder of the kinds of elegance I come from. Nice to have those reminders nearby more often.
If we talked recently and I was more spacey than normal it’s just been a lot - but this week has been a beautiful respite. And a lot of art is bubbling up.

Ready for my Christ year - happy for the families I have around me 🫂🫂🫂

New album OUT NOW!

𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 is the long-awaited Cantaloupe Music debut from Grand Band, the only professional piano sextet in the US. Impeccably recorded in concert for Montclair State University’s PEAK Performances program, the album features four pieces by four different composers, with each member of the group adding their individual flair to a rich, dynamic performance that amplifies the bold, audacious notion of presenting six grand pianos on a single stage.

The PEAK Performances live audio recording was produced by the Office of Arts and Cultural Programming at the Alexander Kasser Theater on February 14th, 2020 at Montclair State University (Jedediah Wheeler, Executive Director). Edited, mixed and mastered by Nick Lloyd at Firehouse 12, New Haven, CT
