The last slide shows what’s left of the layout board used to create the mushrooms in this image with wardrobe and production design by @schlitzie in 2014. I’ve maybe dipped into it two times in the last 12 years and about to move it for a 5th time. Am I a hoarder?

Tell us three things you’re into right now.
~Right now I’m really into dancing (always!), finding new music for playlists and choreography, and trying new recipes to cook up in the kitchen especially dessert. I also love anything that gets me outside with friends or lets me be creative, whether that’s filming content, modeling, or just exploring new spots around LA.

You instruct Body Dada the Class and also Body Party too. Tell us about the spirit you bring to each class and how it’s different.
~I think the biggest thing I try to bring to every class is a welcoming energy. I want people to feel comfortable the second they walk in, whether it’s their first class or their hundredth. For Body Dada, I try to push people to challenge themselves, but I never want them to leave feeling defeated. I want them to feel proud of themselves! Body Party is more about letting loose and having fun but still getting a burn! I just want everyone to forget about whatever’s going on outside the studio for an hour, dance around and leave with a smile!

Everyone comes out of your class smiling. I think it’s because you’re naturally just a sweet energy and seem to like what you do! Is there any advice you can give aspiring instructors on how to purposely have fun while teaching?
~My advice to new instructors would be to teach the class you’d want to take. I think when you’re genuinely excited about the music, the movement, and the people in front of you, that energy naturally spreads through the room. I also try to remember that every person who comes to class could be carrying something you know nothing about, so if I can make them smile for an hour or help them forget about everything else for a little bit, that’s a win.

Another from my shoot with Don Toliver for his ‘Octane’ album art. This was such a fun day setting it all up and lighting it with friends. Quite a complicated technical challenge with everything living on set (8 foot tall moose included!) and getting all the light dialed in for a single frame.

People always ask if we shoot each portion separately and put it together later and the shortest answer is no. Of course you end up blending different areas together in the composite but there are dozens of individual frames that look pretty close to what you see here.

There are a ton of different stories to tell about how this concept evolved and was carried out but one of my favorite aspects of that is the original sketch (see next slide) which had been made not knowing this location actually existed and the kismet of how close it was to a place that was available to us. When we had our first creative call it seemed meant to be as I excitedly shared that we could do this in camera instead of shooting a bunch of backgrounds and CGI to make a background.

In the spirit of brevity I’ll leave it at that, feel free to reach out if you want to talk more about the rest of it. I can’t thank everyone involved enough for all the work that was put into it and to Don for making it happen!

Hello! @ryanschude taking over for the week. Gonna kick it off with a collection of images which I likely submitted to the Magenta competition back in 2009 and a song equally reminiscent of that time.

I’ve got stories for each of these and I’ll try and fill in the blanks later but we can start with the first one. Also a novelty of that time, the ugly Christmas sweater theme hadn’t hit office culture yet as far as I can tell, but maybe they actually invented it and we were glomming onto the trend? My “office” at the time (2006) was at a rollerblade magazine in San Diego with 8 people in it. 4 of us were at this party which took place in a run down apartment building in Golden Hill.

I hung 3 little flashes in the ceiling and grabbed this in one shot without telling the party goers (except the main 2) what was going on. It opened up my eyes to staged narrative which I had little experience with prior and set the tone for everything that was to happen next.

Oh 2016! What a year. I had the world’s best dog as my constant companion, I started the podcast that would become @privatepartsunknown, I co-wrote a commercial, I wrote on an Amazon show, I Tindered like a mofo and fell in love with my now-husband (I made him a sexy calendar as a Christmas present 😂), I took some epic trips, including to London and Paris, where I felt my Grandma Betty in the cathedrals after she’d passed early that year. It was hard to pick just 20 photos for such a tremendous year. One thing that struck me is how ridiculously hot I was yet I didn’t really think so at the time—such a good reminder that I should cherish my beauty and health now; we all should. In 10 years, we’ll probably look back in awe at who we are now 🩵🩷
