Immersed in the mesmerizing dance of a bee as it fervently gathers pollen from a lavender bloom, I’m struck by an electrifying realization: this bee, in its relentless hustle, mirrors my own daily grind. No different from me, it quests for sustenance and survival amidst the universe’s vastness. In its spirited endeavor, I see a vivid echo of my deepest yearnings for comfort, safety, acceptance, and profound connection. Here’s to you, remarkable bee—may you bee well!

Take a momentary holiday, mind the gap, and rest a while. Cruising neither too fast nor too slow let the mind bask in the clear, undisturbed glow like a steady lamp on a night without whispers of wind, and wander, really wander, to various scenes with the sharpness of awareness, like a bird that’s just caught a breeze off a ship cutting through the sea. Embrace whatever flickers and flames up within as part of the great dance, the vicissitudes of the sky. Let every sensory flash be part of the wakeful respite, brewing forth like serene reflections of the moon shimmying on the water’s surface. While a bardonaut, cool and collected, lets the mind roam and rest with the ease of a seasoned elephant herder tending her gentle giants, she simply observes the groove of the sensory jams, just like fields soak up the goodness of water and manure.

Ah, what peculiar tales do we spin when we speak of minding the gap? To mind, y’all, is to keep yer eyes wide, your spirit alert, and your soul roused from slumber. This gap, as it were, is the very womb whence all manner of thoughts and visions do spring forth and fade away—be they of birth or death, of being or the void, of arrivals and departures.

To mind the gap is verily to glimpse the our very own existence as it is, a realm of serene coolness, peace profound, and jubilant delight. It ain’t a condition reserved for the hereafter, but one to be embraced here and now—whilst you breathe deep that southern breeze, tread the earth beneath your feet, and sip yer brimming cup. Simply observe, just be, no filter.

Enjoy Your Trip,

When we mind the gap, like a coffee bean encased in its cherry, our thoughts may form a barrier that prevents us from reaching the wakeful, unadulterated essence within. They create a complacency that obstructs the gap that is always, already here - much as a raw bean’s potential is shrouded by its outer husk. We tend to process and categorize our experiences, attempting to fit them into preconceived boxes, like sorting coffee beans into grades without appreciating each one’s unique presence. Our own overlaying becomes an obstruction to clarity. Minding the gap, we aim to strip away these encasements, moving past the chaff to reveal the bean at its purest, to experience the richness that lies at the heart of being.

Mostly we accept, at least in the canyons of our intellect, that the nature of the cosmic dance is to swirl in and out, ephemeral as morning fog, but when it comes to the clutch of our daily grind, we hang onto things with a ferocity born of the old deep-seated belief that clinging tight somehow anchors us in currents of chaos, ignoring the rhythm we know intellectually, and failing to allow the universe’s ebb and flow to wash over us, to come and go with the grace of a seasoned traveler who knows the secret that real security lies in embracing the insecurity, in letting things bubble up, break apart, and drift away, like leaves on a wild stream, and thus, nestled in the heart’s deeper chambers, where we can afford to gently accept this rolling flux, we find a paradoxical peace, and when inevitably things do vanish into the mist—as they assuredly will—we stand ready, open-armed, to let them go.

As the sunrise casts silhouettes across the landscape, the clear light of day is momentarily obscured, offering a glimpse into the world of shadows and forms. Just as these silhouettes provide an escape from the full light of day, our opinions can offer refuge, creating a comfortable inertia that clouds our clear sight. Dawn’s light of our awareness is masked by the preconceived shapes we project onto the world, as we instinctively categorize and confine our experiences into familiar outlines. These mental constructs, like the fleeting shadows at daybreak, can become barriers in our practice of minding the gap; when we simply observe, we move beyond these ephemeral silhouettes of thought, tuning into the pure light of awareness that reveals the world as it truly is.

Finding happiness doesn’t come by filtering or blinding our vision. It’s realized by learning to see, putting things in perspective and reducing the gap between appearances and reality. Simply observing the mind, we gain insight into the nature of things, and become our own masters; we realize how suffering arises from our misapprehension of reality.
Mind the gap.
Then, enjoy your trip.

To understand anatta (lack of self-existence) is to see the magic of this world. We can all agree that there is the world and there is you. This is where the magic is - in the undeniable taste and taster of a cup of coffee here and now. Awareness of life is based on that direct appreciation. Minding the gap helps us tune in and appreciate the nowness of what is. Try it now - simply observe and let what is be as it is, without identifying with the trip we are laying on it. For a moment, just be aware and let be.
Mind the gap.
Enjoy your trip.

Have you noticed struggling to find answers doesn’t lead to satisfactory outcomes?😰
What happens when there are gaps in the struggle is that insights tend to come. There’s a very sane, wakeful quality within us that reveals itself when we mind that gap. ✨
And so, minding the gap involves letting be, even when struggle is our tendency.🪷
