Residential Finalists — Designed for Today and Built to Last Across Generations 🏡 Two houses. Two ways of belonging to the tropics. One ASEAN stage. ◼ IC House — by Angkasa Architects ◼ Baan Maiyalap — by Physicalist A home is designed around the rhythms of family life, creating spaces that can be loved, lived in and passed from one generation to the next. In the tropics, heat, rain, light and wind often shape a home more than any architectural style. Both finalist projects begin with these realities, carefully considering roof forms, shading, ventilation and enclosure, then allowing the architecture to respond. Designed for today's lifestyles and built to last across generations, these homes demonstrate how timeless design begins with understanding people, place and climate. Two national winners. Their journey now continues to the ASEAN stage. Which project best reflects timeless design in your view, and why? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments 👇 Learn more at 👉🏻 steelarchawards.com #SteelArchitecturalAwards2026 #TimelessDesign #ShapingResilientFutures #Architecture #ASEANArchitects #MeetTheFinalists #ResidentialArchitecture #CoatedSteelDesign #BlueScope

อ่านต่อได้ที่ลิงก์บน bio _ Baan Salaya is a single-level residence that interprets 'simplicity' through thoughtful design, addressing the owner's desire to minimize maintenance requirements and create a home that serves as a tranquil backdrop for daily life. . Physicalist designed the house with a rectangular layout enclosing a central courtyard that serves as the home's heart, sequentially connecting the communal, relaxation, and private zones. The design invites natural light and airflow through semi-outdoor spaces, minimizing unnecessary walls and utilizing glass and wooden slats to create a sense of spatial continuity. . With its single-level design, the architecture emphasizes horizontal lines and a layout that extends across the site. The landscaping—featuring low-maintenance plants and predominantly hardscaping—reflects a concept of 'thoughtfully considered simplicity,' ensuring the home serves as a true sanctuary for relaxation. . “A House That Asks for Less” . This house by Physicalist is organised as 20 rooms arranged along its perimeter, with the paths between them establishing hierarchy and shaping movement. Its character is defined by the roof profile: on the inside, a steeper pitch leans toward the courtyard to create height, intimacy and a sense of shelter; on the outside, a gentler angle opens the house more lightly to its surroundings. Although each room shares the same structural section, differences in position and approach give each one a distinct spatial quality. See more via the link in our bio.
