Touch is one of the most powerful ways humans communicate comfort and safety.

When couples combine touch with breath and slow movement, it can create a deeper sense of calm and connection.

That combination is at the heart of the Couples Stretch experience.

Every strong training session starts with preparation.

Skipping your warm-up may feel like saving time, but it can increase injury risk.

Warming up helps your body transition from rest to movement, improving mobility, balance, and endurance.

Whether you walk, use a prosthetic, push a wheelchair, or train with a cane or walker, a proper warm-up helps your body perform at its best.

Start slow. Move intentionally.

Even 5 to 10 minutes of simple movement can make a difference.

Try this before your training session:
• March in place
• Gentle leg/arm swings
• Hip circles / Arm circles
• Easy walking for a few minutes

Small preparation leads to stronger movement.
Your future self will thank you.

Move With Power. Move With Purpose.

Most endurance training should happen between 60–75% of your maximum heart rate.
This builds stamina safely and helps protect joints and prosthetic interfaces from overload.

Calculate your max heart rate:
220 – your age
Multiply by 0.60–0.75 to find your training zone.

Mobility aides are simply that....an aide, designed to provide you with assistance when you need to put less weight on one side or reduce fear of falling due to limitations of balance..

Many persons feel shame, limited and compromised when using these aides. It's time to shift the perspective of both the users and viewers. You now have a device that opens up the world to you.

Endurance needs to be built over time. Ensuring your cane, walker or rollator are set at the right height for you. eases your postural load and makes it easier to walk for longer distances.

Starting with 3 days a week, walk at your own comfortable pace and each day try adding small increments of time or distance and you and your loved ones may be surprised how much you gain and how far you go.....5k anyone?

Start small....win big.

Breathing is something we do automatically every day, but when couples slow down and breathe together, something powerful happens.

Slow, synchronized breathing can help calm the nervous system, reduce physical tension, and bring both partners into the same rhythm.

It’s a simple way to become more present with each other.

At Couples Stretch TT, breath is one of the foundations of our sessions because connection often begins with slowing down.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments together start with something as simple as a shared breath.

Most couples never think about breathing together.

But when two people slow down and match their breath, their bodies begin to relax and move in the same rhythm.

It’s a small practice that can create a powerful sense of calm and connection.

At Couples Stretch TT, breath is where connection begins.

Try it tonight:
Sit together, close your eyes, and take 5 slow breaths.

Whether you use a wheelchair to move around or you're on 2 feet...

Whether you were very active and athletic and life's wear and tear had you change out a joint or place rods for broken bones....

Maybe you're diabetic or was in an accident and have lost a limb...

What if you've just been looking on saying I should start, it would be nice to get active, to move, to build fitness but you're just not motivated to start....

Or maybe you have a loved one in isolation, not going outside because there's no real drive to participate anymore....

All we're saying is....YOU were never meant to sit on the sidelines!
Don't you realize you're BIONIC?

Move with POWER. Move with PURPOSE. Move with US.

Welcome to Bionic Movers.

This page was created to celebrate movement in all its forms — especially for those who move with prosthetics, canes, walkers, orthotics, or other assistive devices.

Here, we believe mobility devices are not limitations.
They are tools of strength, resilience, and possibility.

Bionic Movers is more than a 5K.
It’s a growing community focused on safe training, physiotherapy education, and inclusive endurance events.

Through our Bionic Blueprint series, we’ll share practical tips to help you move stronger, train smarter, and build confidence in your body.

Whether you're rebuilding strength, training for our upcoming events, or simply learning more about movement — you belong here.
