It is from this sensibility that @piccolismalti takes shape, the creative universe of Giovanna Ferrero Ventimiglia, whose distinctive approach to design brings together Italian craftsmanship, artistic heritage, and contemporary expression through a language that is feminine, sensual, and unexpected.

Giovanna’s creative journey is deeply rooted in the legacy of her grandfather, Renato Morganti, an architect and engineer with a passion for the ancient art of enamelling. What began as a connection to her family’s artistic heritage has evolved into a personal exploration of materials, colour, light, and imagination, where tradition becomes a starting point for creative freedom.
Three creations capture the many facets of her vision: Carré Cloisonné, where memory and contemporary design meet; Piuma, an exploration of lightness, light, and sensuality; and Forget Me Not, where bronze becomes a playful expression of irony and artistic freedom. Three distinct creative languages, united by a shared intention: to give life to objects with character and identity, capable of surprising, moving, and accompanying people through time.

For Giovanna, authentic beauty does not need to demand attention. Sometimes, a subtle detail, a reflection, or an unexpected form is enough to inspire wonder.

In this new conversation for Masters & Makers Italy, we step into the world of Giovanna Ferrero Ventimiglia and Piccoli Smalti, where craftsmanship becomes emotion, heritage meets imagination, and every creation invites us to see beauty from a different point of view.

EDIT NAPOLI 2026 | Idee, forme, visioni.

Dal 9 all’11 ottobre, @edit.napoli ha riunito designer, artigiani e realtà indipendenti, dando spazio a una visione del design contemporaneo fatta di ricerca, identità e nuove prospettive.

È un progetto curatoriale che mette al centro il design editoriale e d’autore, offrendo visibilità a designer indipendenti, ad artigiani e anche alle piccole realtà produttive spesso escluse dai circuiti mainstream.

Tra gli ambienti suggestivi de La Santissima, l’ex ospedale militare di Napoli, e le installazioni diffuse in città, abbiamo scoperto progetti, incontrato persone e selezionato alcune delle realtà che più hanno attirato la nostra attenzione.

Realtà differenti, accomunate dalla capacità di trasformare un’idea in un linguaggio personale.

Salutiamo @edit.napoli portando con noi nuove suggestioni, incontri e prospettive. Non soltanto per la qualità dei progetti presentati, ma anche per la bellezza dei luoghi che li hanno accolti, capaci di rendere ancora più speciale il dialogo tra design, cultura e territorio.

Grazie a chi continua a credere nella forza delle idee e degli incontri.

Ciò che ci interessa non è soltanto ciò che viene creato. E la visione di chi lo crea.

Crediamo che la differenza risieda nella sensibilità con cui si sceglie cosa osservare, nelle domande che si pongono, nelle connessioni che si riescono a immaginare.
È da qui che prende forma SpazioF Lab.

Dal nostro modo di guardare, scoprire e selezionare. Dal desiderio di raccontare le esperienze imprenditoriali attraverso i nostri occhi, dando voce alle persone, alle intuizioni e ai percorsi che si nascondono dietro ogni progetto.

Perché per noi raccontare significa anche creare le condizioni affinché quelle storie possano essere vissute, ascoltate e condivise. Trasformare un incontro in un dialogo e una visione in un’esperienza.

E poi c’è Napoli.

Una città che amiamo profondamente, per la sua vitalità, i suoi colori, le sue contraddizioni e il calore spontaneo delle persone. Una città che continua a sorprenderci e a ispirarci.
Perché Napoli non è soltanto il luogo in cui siamo nate. È parte di ciò che siamo e di ciò che desideriamo costruire.

@fostermag.zine torna come media partner ad @edit.napoli per il secondo anno consecutivo (due su due, esistiamo dal 2025). Un momento di scambio, scouting, chiacchiere e incontri per incontrare chi il design lo fa e chi lo “usa” nei propri progetti, oltre gli oggetti. Ci trovate a La Santissima oggi e domani, ovviamente a Napoli.

Announcing Piccoli Smalti.

Piccoli Smalti is founded by Giovanna Ferrero Ventimiglia, a Milanese artist and designer. She is captivated by the reinterpretation of ancient artisanal techniques, such as cloisonné enamel.
This venture elegantly combines design and craftsmanship, exploring form, material, and color. Her design pieces draw inspiration from vintage aesthetics and are crafted in collaboration with various artisans.

At the heart of Ephemere is a dialogue between Nadja Romain and Giovanna Ferrero Ventimiglia, artist and founder of Piccoli Smalti. Set within the iconic Galerie Alessandro Zoppi on Campo San Maurizio, the presentation grew from a shared sensitivity to place, material and the intimate life of objects.

Ephemere unfolds as a meeting point: between art and design, artist and curator, object and collector, Venice and those who pass through it. The selection reflects both current and future collaborations, bringing together works that carry a sense of craftsmanship, presence and personal connection.

Through Piccoli Smalti, Giovanna reinterprets ancient enamelling techniques in objects that move between function, ornament and artwork. Presented alongside a wider selection chosen by Nadja Romain, her works anchor the project in a language of colour, surface and detail.
Taking its name from the fleeting and the temporary, Ephemere invites visitors to encounter works in a more immediate and personal way — to discover, collect, live with, offer, or carry home from Venice.
