ꜰʀ | A collective labour est une après-midi de conférences qui examine l’héritage artistique et culturel des communautés nord-africaines en Belgique et son lien avec les artistes contemporains établis en Afrique.
S’appuyant sur l’histoire de la migration de main-d’œuvre entre le Maghreb et l’Europe au 20E siècle, Kanal réunit des artistes, curateur•ices et chercheur•euses pour faire dialoguer des pratiques diasporiques et continentales.

ɴʟ | A collective labour is een namiddag met conferenties die het artistieke en culturele erfgoed van de Noord-Afrikaanse gemeenschappen in België en hun relatie tot hedendaagse kunstenaars uit Afrika onderzoeken.
Geïnspireerd door de arbeidsmigraties tussen de Maghreb en Europa in de 20e eeuw, brengt Kanal kunstenaars, curatoren en onderzoekers een dag lang samen rond gedeelde diasporische en continentale praktijken.

ᴇɴ | A collective labour is an afternoon of conferences that examines the artistic and cultural heritage of the North African presence in Belgium and its relationship with Africa-based contemporary artists.
Inspired by the 20th-century labour migrations between the Maghreb and Europe, Kanal convenes artists, curators and scholars who bring together diasporic and continental practices in conversation.

Un progetto di ricerca foto-grafica curato da @mauro_bubbico e @lucacapuano__ e sviluppato dagli studenti e studentesse della prima edizione del Master in Comunicazione Visiva e Art Direction.

📌 Ti aspettiamo sabato 16 marzo alle 11.00 a @palazzoscammacca per la presentazione del libro e l’inaugurazione della mostra dedicata al quartiere più popoloso di Catania. In esposizione anche una selezione di foto di Luca Capuano e di modelli e materiali messi a disposizione dall’architetta Sabina Zappalà, responsabile dell’Archivio Librino – S.T.A. PROGETTI / Fondazione Invisibile Urbano.

#LibrinoFuoriCampo mette insieme oggetti di scena, costumi, personaggi e scenografie immaginarie, elaborati attraverso l’iconografia storica, gli appunti, i sopralluoghi, le biografie personali delle persone che abitano il quartiere, sospesi tra utopia del progetto e quotidianità.

The last six months have been so full on that they have felt like a whole year has passed, and now we’re nearly in 2024. I’m most thankful for my new and old friends, all of whom have made me feel at home in Brussels, and elsewhere.

More love, more resistance, more anger, more sit-ins, more destiny, more lucidity, more, more, more for us all —but particularly MORE for Palestinians and everyone fighting for liberation.

I just joined the team of KANAK-Centre Pompidou, a 40,000 m2 former car factory, situated in the city-world capital of Europe and Belgium, Brussels, with the exciting mission of designing — together with the team, artists, thinkers and social initiatives — a possible museum of the 21st Century, with the Commons.

The Commons became one of my main concerns through projects I have been doing over the past 15 years at the crossing of curating, research and institution making, working for the composition of marginalized knowledge, ways of being and lands, while preserving their radical differences. This metalic skeleton framing the landscape nearby is the best metaphone to express where I think this effort for the Commons should be situated: in the structure itself, and in the ecosystems on which the institution depends.

I am gratefull to share this adventure with an experienced team with solid values, and with a supportive community of colleagues in Belgium and beyond. I will always be thankful to the ones who walked by my side this last decade: @sandraterdjman @natasapetresin @dhakadiana @tomorrowmaybecolonykids @arrhen @hichamkhalidi @kerenidis.pepe.collection Joris Lacoste, Franck Leibovici, and my ❤️ @laura_huertas_millan with whom I will slowly move to Brussels, but keep one foot (or some toes) in Paris Goutte d’Or.

Oggi il Museo Organica ha partecipato all'intensa giornata-studio organizzata da @amaci_musei.
All'ordine del giorno: la relazione divenuta ormai indispensabile tra i musei d'arte contemporanea e lo sviluppo sostenibile vista attraverso le cosidette "5 P": Persone, Prosperità, Pianeta, Partenariato e Pace.

Insieme a Henry McGhie, fondatore di #CuratingTomorrow, addetti ai lavori e rappresentanti della rete #AMACI hanno raccontato esempi di pratiche museali attualmente in corso volte allo sviluppo sostenibile.

I case studies presentati sono stati di grande ispirazione e ci ricordano, per usare le parole di Michele Lanzinger di come i musei "si debbano impegnare per diventare ambienti amichevoli e aperti dove sviluppare curiosità, pensiero critico e senso di responsabilità e dove operare con la partecipazione delle comunità per collegare i grandi problemi globali con l'impegno e la responsabilità verso i propri territori".

Anche per il 2023 il Museo Organica si impegnerà in questa direzione.

📌 A marzo 2023 parte il nuovo @MasterMaterMatuta – Curatorial Practice and Contemporary Philosophy of the Mediterranean diretto da @LeonardoCaffo e promosso da @AbadirAcademy, un percorso interdisciplinare che spazia dalle arti contemporanee al design, all’editoria, passando per la rilettura del cibo, eventi, musica, moda e fotografia, per formare curatori, consulenti strategici e direttori creativi nell’ambito museale, aziendale, editoriale e/o legato ai social.

@beschierenberg who moved to Palermo with @_lousoler for 2 months because we have been taking care of each other for years and who worked on the theoretical references which informed “U Scantu”: A Disorderly Tale. And @amacaman and @claud_seminara who hosted us in their studio.

@adrianolalicata who as an artist covered the most disparate roles throughout the production (scenography, costume production, set photo documentation, and more). And Giulia Costumati, Bernardo Giannone, Claudio Gravano, Marco Schimenti, Bruno Bonafede, Concetta Chillemi, Mirella Romano, Rosario Petralia who worked on the set during the shooting.
