POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A legacy is more than a record of what came before. It is what we choose to carry forward.

For 62 years, Philippine interior design has grown from a practice without formal recognition into a profession shaped by standards, education, legislation, community, and generations of designers across the country.

Legacy Forward: Shaping New Worlds traces that journey - from the years before PIID’s founding and the work that built the profession, to the regional Chapters that gave it different voices across the Philippines, and the people and programs taking it into its next chapter.

Look back at the milestones. Meet the communities behind them. And consider what this legacy asks of the generation that comes next.

Experience the PIID Retrospective: Legacy Forward - Shaping New Worlds at #MIDS2026.

Great design begins with a designer who is continually growing 📐

Before we come together for MIDS 2026, let’s first take a moment to look inward.

For GMM4, Beyond the Portfolio, we turn the focus inward through meaningful conversations that explore confidence and personality development, strengthening client relationships and enriching the design practice.

Join fellow IDrs. for an afternoon of connection, reflection, and growth, alongside a thoughtfully curated showroom experience hosted by L² Designer Home @l2.designerhome and Davies Paints Philippines @daviespaints

WRAPPING UP DAY 1 OF SUBAY SA PANULONDON: Re-tracing the tracks of legacy

Day 1 brought us into a deeper conversation with our heritage—through talks on Cebu’s rich history with Jose Bernales, explorations of Cebu heritage cuisine with Louella Alix Eslao, and reflections on humble objects and vernacular design as a way of life with Jay Jore. These sessions, along with stories, history, design, objects, and the people who continue to keep these traditions alive, opened meaningful spaces for learning and exchange.

From insightful talks to hands-on understanding, today reminded us that knowing where we come from allows us to better appreciate what we carry forward.

The afternoon continued this journey through workshops on Repujado by @vstanquerido cyanotype printing by @edwinao & @zachaldave and puso making @cebumakingspace —bringing heritage into practice through our own hands.

This is only Day 1 of Subay sa Panulondon 2026. Stay tuned and keep posted for Day 2 as we continue to explore, create, and celebrate our shared heritage.

Carcar, Sunday.

Capiz light on narra floors, a plantation chair that has held generations. Some rooms don’t ask you to do anything … old wood, older light, heritage that isn’t a thing you visit but a room that still knows how to breathe.

Rediscovering heritage, and the ties that come with it.

hinga. pause.

One of @grupo.santamaria’s residential projects was part of the Asia Pacific Space Designers Association (APSDA)’s exhibit for Design Week held at Seoul, Korea. Theme was “RESHAPING LOCALITY: Through the Lens of Design Intelligence and Contemporary Innovation”.

“Locality today is no longer a fixed inheritance, but an active construct, continuously reshaped through evolving new modes of design thinking and making. This exhibition brings together designers from across the Asia-Pacific who engage their own cultural contexts not as static references, but as active systems open to reinterpretation”. — APSDA.

Our submission was a family home we worked on in Batangas rooted in Filipino heritage, inspired by both the old, laid-back traditions and bustling new lifestyle of the South.

Grateful to share the exhibit with Manila’s @ericparas and @jonathanmatti, along with other interior designers and architects from Japan, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Hongkong, Taiwan, Nepal, and Indonesia.

Our @piid.official National President @cecil_ravelas also gave a lecture on reshaping locality (The Intelligence of Pause) as part of the APSDA Open Seminar series.

Sharing the experience with fellow @piid.official officers @idr.honeymutia @dorisannedy and @gie_valencia made this experience more special.🤍

Fifteen minutes.
That’s what you get to explain a Filipino idea to a room of Asian designers … hinga, breath, the architecture of pause. I stood inside the APSDA Special Exhibition at COEX and talked about locality not as decoration, but as intelligence. About rooms that let you exhale.
Grateful to KOSID for the welcome, to APSDA for the table and to the PIID Board of Trustees who flew in and filled the room with Philippine presence.
We came to represent. We stayed to listen.#APSDA2026 #ReshapingLocality #PIID #FilipinoDesign #KOSID
