✨ Happy Winter Solstice ✨

On the longest night, the darkness could not dim the light we shared — nor the warmth, and community spirit that filled the church. Another evening with every pew completely full.

To see this beautiful, often quiet place alive with a gathering of friendly faces was a true joy. Voices lifted, words spoken, music held in the stone — a reminder of what these walls are for. Thank you to everyone who took part and came to enjoy the evening.

Delicious mince pies were generously given by @little_bakery_langport and @claireclem2025,
with warming mulled cider provided by our local cider makers @parretcider and @somersetciderbrandy — easing the chill of midwinter.

This year’s Levels Live events have been an unfolding, evolving experiment: solstice gatherings, music, stories of stone and craft xx, and conversations about land and farming. Each one shaped by those who came, listened, sat, and donated so generously to the cause — restoring and reinvigorating this space, and helping to make it usable for the whole community.

Thank you all for your wholehearted support.
We’ll return in April, and we can’t wait to bring you more.

Until then, may the light lengthen,
and may you carry a little of this evening with you.

With love, and winter wishes,
Levels Live ✨

New girlie Wanda joined us this morning 🥰 Her muzzle was provided… “just in case” but there was nothing to fret over. Although it helps massively, when the dogs you already have are bomb proof. Dogs that were happy for her to find her feet slowly ☺️
It doesn’t go over my head, that seeing a short clip of my job does make it look easy. A lot of planning, knowledge, patience and love goes into each and every dog. Making each pack as fun/calm as possible.
Welcome to the pack Wanda 🫶🏻We love you already 😘🐾👣

Congratulations to my friend @nataliehaynesauthor on the publication of NO FRIEND TO THIS HOUSE, a magical retelling of the story of Jason and the Argonauts, as seen through the eyes of the women, the girls, the witches, the queens, the doves, the princesses, and the daughters he meets along the way.

It's propulsive, it's action-packed, it's funny, it's heartwrenchingly sad, it's a twisty, it's turny, there's an achingly glorious chapter in the middle which flips the whole thing on its head in such a way that I could have read a whole book from the perspective of those characters.

Natalie talked about how this is the book she had been building towards and you can absolutely tell. I appreciate I'm biased, but it comes with my sincere recommendation.

I picked up Natalie's book, A Thousand Ships, in Hampstead Waterstones for an upcoming trip to Athens. I read the whole thing sitting on near-deserted beaches and hillsides (this was shortly after the first pandemic lockdown) and thought it was wonderful.

I gave the book as a Christmas present to my friend @nikismirni suggesting that Natalie might be a good leader for any upcoming @travelgemscom cultural retreats. Niki loved it and asked me to work my connections to find Natalie's agent's email.

A year passes, and I find myself in Crete on the very retreat I'd suggested, sitting on beaches and hillsides, chatting to the very author who's books (I'd picked up a few more in the meantime) I'd loved. I have to confess that the first time I asked for a selfie (pic 5) I was really quite starstruck.

We met the following year on another retreat (pic 4) and then after a recording of Natalie's radio show, she invited me to join her mates at the pub. I stayed out of the way to avoid being embarrassing but I managed to persuade Natalie to do an interview for me.

We did the interview over cake, and have been meeting regularly for cake and gossip ever since. And now we're friends, I guess? Natalie has become a pal, supporter, mentor, and champion. She's a wonderful person who always has time to advise, console, and guide. Buy the book because it's great but also because she's great pls x #bookstagram #bookrecs #author

The days are getting longer, the nights are drawing in, we only have so long left, but September is a month for mischief and misrule, so we're setting things off to a good start... #september #instagay #londonlife
