The White Lotus S3E8 -

One of the most emotionally moving scenes I’ve been a part of. A beautiful example of simplicity in storytelling.

A single source against black is what the story demanded, but when we move the camera to look down, @benkutchins ASC did not want Lochlan to be front lit.

We used mirrors underwater to sidelite, using an @arri Orbiter we get the undulation of the caustics with the shaping that comes from the sidelite.

Additionally all the fill was from black-bounce, so 18k’s and Arri Skypanel 360s bounce off 20x20 solids.

2nd unit team with @pithai_dp shot Lochlan’s POV off a mirror board with some water (check out his post about it).

The brilliance of #MikeWhite and Ben Kutchins ASC, and the entire team that they inspire.
