“I don’t really get art.”

Good news. You don’t have to.

You don’t need an art degree, a creative bone in your body, or the ability to explain what a painting means to enjoy visiting an art gallery. Sometimes, all it takes is seeing something that makes you stop and look twice.

We recently celebrated artist Susan Martin Meggs at the opening reception for her art display, Interplays, and we’re sharing a few favorite moments from the evening!

Her work explores the relationships between light and shadow, architecture and nature, and the things we notice when we look a little closer.

Maybe a piece reminds you of somewhere you’ve been. Maybe you notice something unexpected. Maybe you simply discover a color, shape, or image you love. There’s no right or wrong way to experience art.

And you still have time to see it for yourself!

Interplays is on view through Saturday, November 7, and all artwork is available for purchase. You might even discover a piece you’d love to take home.

📍 Emily Monk Davidson Gallery at FCAC
3725 N. Main St., Farmville, NC

🕘 Gallery Hours

Tuesday–Friday: 9 AM–12 PM

Friday evenings: 4–6 PM

Saturday: 10 AM–2 PM

Admission is FREE. Everyone is welcome.

Whether you visit galleries all the time or you’ve never stepped inside one, there’s a place for you here.

Come see what catches your eye. You might surprise yourself.

🎨 Empowering Artists to Price Their Work with Confidence!

This past Wednesday, the Crisp Small Business Resource Center, alongside our community partners, hosted another Emerging Creatives workshop at Emerge Gallery & Art Center!

Led by Julia Townsend, Artist and Co-Founder of The Peanut Factory, the Pricing Your Artwork with Confidence workshop provided local artists with practical strategies to confidently determine the value of their creative work.Throughout the workshop, participants explored pricing formulas, learned how to balance fair pricing with profitability, and gained valuable tools to support the growth of their creative businesses.

A special thank you to Julia Townsend for sharing her expertise, Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge for hosting, and our community partners for their continued commitment to supporting eastern North Carolina's creative entrepreneurs!

We look forward to continuing to empower local artists through education, resources, and meaningful connections.

Our Featured Artist for the rest of October and part of November is: Bailey Edwards

Bailey is a Greenville girl born and raised, with a whole lot of love for this little corner of Eastern North Carolina! Below is from the artist herself! ⬇️⬇️

I’ve been drawn to painting, crafts, and all things creative for as long as I can remember. And here I am, all grown up, still chasing that same colorful magic! 🎨 For me, painting is more than just putting a brush to canvas. It’s a little escape from the hustle and bustle, a chance to find some peace and clarity, and an excuse to splash a little extra color, whimsy, and wonder into this wonderfully messy thing we call life.

I believe art should make you feel something, bring a smile to your face, or maybe just make you stop for a moment and see the world a little differently. Whether it’s a playful pop of color, a quirky little character, or something inspired by the everyday beauty around us, I hope my art brings a little joy to whoever finds it.

I’m so excited to share a little piece of my heart with y’all at Pitt Street Brewing Company. There’s something pretty special about celebrating local art in a place that brings our community together. So grab a pint, take a peek, and let’s make life a little more colorful, one painting at a time! 🍻✨

Catch Baileys vibrant and INCREDIBLE work displayed in our Taproom!
