🩺🐾 Happy Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week!

To the veterinary technicians who care for our pets with patience, skill, compassion, and kindness: we appreciate you.

Thank you for the long days, the difficult cases, the comforting words, the gentle hands, and all the little things families may never fully see.

And to the assistants, receptionists, veterinarians, rehabilitation professionals, and support staff working alongside them, we see you too, and we are grateful for you. 💙

For so many IVDD families, your care becomes apart of their journey. You make more of a difference than you think. 🥰

Thank you for showing up for our pets and for the people who love them. 🐾💛

If someone on your veterinary team has made a difference in your pup’s life, we want to hear about them! Give them a shoutout below. 💞

Learn with Cujo! 🐾 … except Violet took over this one. 🤭💜

October is National Pit Bull Awareness Month, and Violet has a message:

Know the dog, not just the label.

Dogs often get judged by appearance before anyone takes the time to learn who they actually are. But a breed label can’t tell you everything about personality, behavior, history, or the little quirks that make a dog them.

Awareness means asking questions, challenging assumptions, practicing responsible ownership, and getting to know the dog beyond the label.

I am more than a category. I am my own dog, with my own personality, preferences, and story.

Learn them. Love them. Advocate for them. 💜🐾

Cujo will be going back to her regular educational content shortly. I just had to get this message out. 🤭😂🐾

Stay informed. Stay kind.

💜Thank you for listening. 💜🐾

Learn with Cujo! And today she has friends helping her out. 🐾💛

Today is Pet Obesity Awareness Day and this is such a good reminder that body condition is about more than appearance.

A healthy body condition can support a dog’s comfort, mobility, energy, and overall quality of life. For dogs with IVDD or other mobility concerns, excess weight may also make movement more difficult and place additional strain on the body.

But this conversation should never be about shame.

Healthy looks different for every dog, and there is no single “perfect” number that applies to everyone. Breed, age, body structure, activity level, medical history, and individual needs all matter.

That’s why your veterinarian can be such an important part of the conversation, helping you understand your dogs body condition, nutrition, portions, treats, and safe activity. 🛞

Support, not shame. 🐾💙

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s helping our dogs feel as comfortable, supported, and mobile as possible. 💓

💚 Mental Illness Awareness Week October 4-10, 2026 💚

This years theme is Turning Science into Hope. 🧪

And when I think about my own lived experience, I keep coming back to one thing I wish I had known: it’s okay to not be okay.

I wish I knew that struggling didn’t mean I was failing.

I wish I knew that I could love my dog with everything I had and still feel exhausted, scared, overwhelmed, or unsure.

I wish I knew grief could exist before goodbye.

I wish I knew guilt could make me question everything. And outside of caregiving, I wish I understood sooner what prolonged stress and an unhealthy environment could do to my mental health.

For a long time I thought I just needed to be stronger. To just push through. Keep going. Take care of everyone else. I wish I knew my mind and body weren’t failing me.

Sometimes my mind and body was telling me, “this is too much.”

The more we learn about mental health, the more we can replace the shame with understanding.

The more we listen to lived experience, the more we recognize when someone needs support.

And the more we understand, the more room there is for hope. So if I could tell my past self one thing, it would be: you don’t have to wait u until you’re falling apart to ask for help. leave that job sooner.
You’re allowed to have bad days.
You’re allowed to rest.
You’re allowed to set boundaries.
You’re allowed to say “I’m not okay.”
It’s okay not to be okay. 💙

And for every caregiver spending so much time asking “are they okay?”

Remember to ask yourself that question too.

The person behind the leash, stroller, and/or wheels matters, too. 🐾

🐾🌎 Happy World Animal Day!

Today is about celebrating animals of every kind and recognizing the responsibility we have to treat them with compassion, respect, and care.

At Cujo’s Hope, our main focus is dogs and IVDD, but advocacy doesn’t stop with one diagnosis or one species. 💙

Learning about an animal’s needs, supporting responsible care, sharing good information, helping organizations doing meaningful work, and simply choosing kindness can make a difference.

Awareness is where compassion becomes action.

Thank you to our non-doggy friends who joined the Cujo’s Hope crew today. 💛 you are all loved and appreciated.

And a special thank you to @reranch22 for letting us feature their adorable goat, cow, and ducks in this post. Their page gives me a daily serotonin boost. 🥰🐐 We’re so grateful you let them join the Cujo’s Hope crew for World Animal Day! 😂🤩

🐾💛 Learn with Cujo: National Pet Wellness Month

Pet wellness is more than one vet visit, one walk, or one healthy meal. It’s the everyday choices that help support your dogs comfort, health, mobility, and happiness.

Wellness can look different for every dog.

For one pup, it might mean long walks and plenty of activity. For another, it could mean controlled movement, stroller adventures, rehabilitation, extra rest, or adjusting the home to make everyday life a little easier.

It also means knowing they’re normal: how they eat, move, sleep, play, and behave; so you’re more likely to notice when something changes.

And don’t forget about their mental well-being, too. Sniffing, enrichment, training, connection, and simply spending time together all matter. 💙

As our dogs age or their health changes, their needs may change with them. That doesn’t mean wellness disappears. Sometimes, it just looks different.

Wellness is the everyday stuff. The food. The movement. The checkups. The enrichment. The little changes we notice.

Love them. Learn them. Advocate for them. 💛🐾

🛞🐾 Happy National Walk ‘n’ Roll Dog Day!

Okay… we may be rollin’ in a little late tonight 😂 but Cujo said the wheels are still rolling.

Today we’re celebrating the pups who move through the world in all kinds of ways: wheelchairs, strollers, supportive harnesses, slings, and everything in between.

Because mobility can look different and still be full of adventure, personality, sass, snacks, and really good days. 💛

Some pups roll for independence. Some ride when they need a break. Some walk a little and ride a little. Every journey is different.

And Cujo would like everyone to know that a stroller is not a limitation…. It’s clearly first class transportation. 💅😂

Anyways… they see us rollin’…. 🛞🐾

Different ride. Same dog. Same love. 💙

ROLL CALL! Show us your pups ride in the comments, whether it’s a wheelchair, stroller, or whatever helps them keep adventuring! ♿️🫶
