London Exhibitions Closing:
The November 2026 Edition

Swipe for complete venue and closing dates (marked 🔺 where free to visit).

The late autumn gallery rotation is underway, marking the final weeks for many exhibitions across London. Here’s my selection of ten shows to catch before they close.

The manipulation of materials comes to the fore in Ian Davenport’s rigorous, poured-paint reflections, in contrast to Monika Sosnowska’s structurally distorted architectural sculptures on display at the South London Gallery. Meanwhile, the organic tentacular forms of Nicola Turner’s work are sinuously feeling their way around the gallery at Annely Juda.

Gabriel Orozco’s excellent major exhibition at White Cube in Bermondsey enters its final weeks as does the Victoria & Albert’s dazzling Schiaparelli show where fashion and art collide.

The work of painters abounds with Clare Woods at Pitzhanger Manor, Hernan Bas at Victoria Miro, and Winston Churchill at the Wallace Collection. In Mayfair, find William Kentridge’s characteristically incisive draftsmanship on display at Goodman Gallery in Cork Street and the variety of Nicole Eisenman’s work unfolding across the floors of Sadie Coles in Savile Row.

Note: 7 of the 10 exhibitions selected are free to visit.

Wonderful!
🌅
You have until 8th November to see the Clare Woods #art #exhibition, Garden Without Seasons, at @pitzhanger Manor gallery in Walpole Park, Ealing. Don’t miss it!
🎨🖌️
Woods’ #paintings — oils on a metallic surface, giving them a wonderful translucence — and intricate #collages are well worth the price of admission alone BUT…
😊
… you also get to tour the historic house, Sir John Soane’s former country home. Plus, there’s superb coffee and did I mention this is #Ealing?
♥️
Get thee to the Queen of the London Suburbs!

With only three weeks left to visit, we encourage taking a trip to Ealing to catch Clare Woods: Garden Without Seasons at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, an exhibition where painting, architecture, and the natural world come together in a richly immersive experience.

Bringing together 29 new and recent works, the exhibition spans paintings, collages, and prints made over the past four years. Drawing inspiration from flowers, still life, architecture, and the landscape surrounding Pitzhanger, Woods creates a world that is both familiar and strangely dreamlike.

Beneath the beauty lies a more contemplative thread. Her flowers and still lifes reflect on the fragility and fleeting nature of life, while her recurring interest in windows, glass, and distant landscapes invites us to consider how we look at, and make sense of, the world around us.

In January 2023, Woods donated Hazy (2023) to the Foundation’s Art Without Borders auction, held at and with the support of the Royal Academy of Arts. The event raised funds directly for the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine.

Clare Woods: Garden Without Seasons

Despite its darker undertones of climate change and capitalism, Clare Woods’s exhibition is a joyful explosion of nature, responding beautifully to the neoclassical architecture and the lush gardens of Sir John Soane’s country retreat.

Yesterday I went to the ‘Clare Woods: Garden Without Seasons’ exhibition at @pitzhanger. It features 29 new and recent works, including paintings, collages and prints that have been created using her trademark wet-look oil paint and stunning colour combinations. Woods is inspired by photographs of flowers and everyday items but creates an abstract realisation of them using bold brushstrokes and swirls. Scenes of the Kew Gardens hot houses in luscious greens sit next to vases of flowers with hot pink blooms. Her collages are made up of intricately-cut paper pieces that have each been painted with her signature saturated colours. It’s well worth a visit before the exhibition closes in November, and you can visit the Manor House next door too, where more of @clarewoodsstudio artwork can be seen.

‘Garden Without Seasons’
Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery @pitzhanger

What happens when the unruly sensuality of nature meets the architectural imagination of Sir John Soane?

Woods’ visceral, chromatic paintings feel uncannily at home within Pitzhanger’s extraordinary interiors. Her flowers hover between figuration and abstraction, dissolving into fluid, almost sculptural masses of colour. Working in oil on aluminium, Woods manipulates paint wet into wet, dragging, smearing and sweeping pigment across the surface to create her signature textures - at once luscious, elusive and faintly unsettling.

There is a remarkable affinity between her painterly language and Soane’s architecture. Just as Soane’s carefully orchestrated light, shadow, reflections and spatial illusions continually unsettle our perception of a room, Woods’ surfaces shift between opacity and luminosity, presence and disappearance. Her organic forms seem to emerge from shadow before dissolving back into colour, echoing the play of light across Soane’s layered interiors.

Here, the house is far more than a setting; it becomes a counterpart to the paintings, a conversation between architectural permanence and nature’s transience, between the precision of structure and the unpredictability of life.

An exquisite encounter between art, architecture and the poetry of perception. Not to be missed.

Until 8 November 2026
