September is Suicide Prevention Month, and this is personal. I’ve been there…in a dark place where I didn’t want to be here anymore. I used to call it “the black hole.”

Creative ritual became my biggest support. It was my go-to and something I could turn to anytime I needed it.

Looking back, I understand that making time for myself and returning to that ritual was what mattered so much. It gave me a way to listen to myself and begin understanding what was happening inside me.

I learned to slow down enough to discover what I was feeling, open space for it without judging or immediately trying to fix it, and express what I was carrying. Once it was on the page, I could look again. I could notice something I hadn’t understood before, recognize a need, or imagine another way forward.

That practice helped me get to know myself. To trust myself. To return to my life with more clarity, compassion, and intention.

This is why soul care means so much to me, and why my personal practice has become a mission to advocate for creative ritual. In a world that constantly asks us to consume, compare, and keep going, I want us to have opportunities to go inward and actually hear ourselves so we can know ourselves.

And I want us to have community around that practice. There’s something beautiful about being witnessed with grace and having your expression welcomed without needing to explain everything. I believe healing belongs in community, too.

That’s the heart of Creative Comadre: helping women reconnect with themselves through creative ritual so they can know themselves, trust themselves, and reconnect with our Creator. 💖

What a better way to celebrate another trip around the sun than by sharing a few photos that capture me in this season of my life.🤍

What a fun Photoshoot this was! A huge thank you to the incredibly talented @pixelsandprints for making me feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.📸✨
It’s bittersweet knowing she’s stepping away from photography, but I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to work with her and wish her nothing but the best in what comes next.🤍

On my birthday, it feels like the perfect time to share a little more of the face behind Makeupartistrybykarla.💄

I’m not quite where I want to be in this beauty industry yet, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I’ve faced fears that once held me back, stepped outside my comfort zone, and gained so much confidence along the way. There’s so much more I want to accomplish, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

My kids are my biggest reason to keep going. I do it for them. Even when things haven’t always been easy, they keep me motivated to keep pushing, growing, and chase my dreams. I want to make them proud and, most importantly, show them to never give up on their own goals and dreams.🤍

And to everyone who has supported me, booked with me, shared my work, or simply cheered me on — I see you, and I appreciate you. Thank you🫶🏽

Us around the same time in 2021 and us now.

Time moves so fast! This is why photography is so freaking important. It allows us to freeze a tiny moment in time. A Millisecond! With in that millisecond emotions are captured, and if done right a whole story can be told. Yes they may be beautiful and exciting as soon as we get our galleries in that moment but the real value behind these photo happens later. As we grow these images remain the same

Time is all we have. As days go by our memories from a special moment starts to fade as we build new ones to take its place but that is why we have photography. Just one look at a photo can bring back so many feelings and so many stories.

These photos of us are less than a year a apart yet so many changes have came. Progress, wins, failures, joy, and gratefulness. These photos and others like them bring me so much peace and joy & remind me to keep going.

I dont know I’m to just rambling on. Time to get back to editing. Hope you all enjoy your Friday evening ❤️‍🔥
