Build strength & power at the same time!

Here’s a great way to program unilateral power development.

The Smith Machine is a solid strength training tool as it maximizes stability. So we can get a strong strength stimulus.

The lunge jumps are that same movement pattern, single leg, but utilizing no weight but your body load. Focus is on high velocity movement. It’s a low moderate plyometric exercise based on the body weight & load demands. Stability & coordination are also involved.

Many of my clients with goals towards building athletic qualities, and most certainly my college athlete clients, are programmed contrast training for developing power.

Not always required but a good sprinkle certainly helps!

Remember, PAP (post activation potentiation) & contractile capacity are big elements here!

Add these movements for a good arm pump 💪🏼

Sometimes a good old arm pump is needed. Great to incorporate on recovery days for athletes. It’s an isolated movement that doesn’t require high volume and has minimal synergistic muscle groups.

Promote some blood flow to body, increase body temp & heart rate a bit still.

Not everything needs to be ground & pound. Have fun with it :)! What do they say usually!? Curls for the? 😎
