$Ital Tek is a talent. He's shown that time and time again over the years but I find him to be still quite overlooked for his contributions to the scene. This post focuses on his productions from 2007 to 2014 as personally, this is my favourite era. Let me know in the comments! 🏵️🔽 __________________________ Ital Tek is the alias of British producer and composer Alan Myson, whose music has occupied the space between dubstep, IDM, ambient and experimental electronics since the mid-2000s. After signing to Planet Mu as a teenager, Myson made his first appearance on the label with the Blood Line EP in 2007, a stark set of sci-fi-tinged dubstep built around heavy bass, distorted textures and fractured rhythms. His debut album Cyclical followed in 2008, establishing a sound that paired the weight of UK bass music with atmospheric synths and a distinctly cinematic sense of space. Across albums including Midnight Colour, Nebula Dance and Control, Myson continually pushed his sound into new territory, drawing on garage, IDM, jungle and the emerging influence of Chicago footwork. By Hollowed (2016), the dancefloor had become less important, with dense layers of guitar, drones and electronics creating something darker, more abstract and deeply emotive. Bodied (2018) and Outland (2020) continued that move towards cinematic sound design, while Timeproof (2023) and Mind Abandon (2026) have further expanded his palette through live instrumentation and more organic textures. Throughout, Myson's long-running relationship with Planet Mu has allowed Ital Tek to evolve without being confined to a single genre, making him one of the label's most distinctive and enduring artists.$
