You win some, you (unfortunately) lose some.
.
I knew the second this leaf appeared on my Alocasia Polly I had committed the cardinal sin of houseplants - overwatering. I will be the first to admit I am still relatively new to the houseplant world, and I like to think I’ve learned a lot, but I know there’s still SO much more to learn!
.
I typically use a moisture meter (I don’t fully trust myself using the finger test yet), and was able to find an affordable and seemingly reliable one online. These things are great! I highly recommend getting one if you’re not a plant expert (I know I’m not yet). I also recommend actually using it, instead of getting overexcited and watering based on a schedule instead of listening to your plants. I won’t be making that mistake again!
.
At the same time, I couldn’t help but be in awe of the colors and patterns on this poor leaf. Not to get too deep here, but it was a reminder that even in death there can be beauty.
