We don’t talk about this enough, but being fit and having muscle offer easier recovery and response to surgery, elective or otherwise.

@pmobley97 has been fit her entire adult life. When the weight was impacting her quality of life, she carefully decided upon the best intervention for her needs. She had an amazing surgeon @griffin_plastic_surgery , and post care team.

But what people might not fully grasp is the YEARS she spent becoming the most fit she could be. It’s one reason she was able to withstand a post-operation infection that could have been MUCH worse if not for her already having healthy habits in place. She wasn’t scrambling after surgery to suddenly change her lifestyle, it was on lock already.

The definition of “stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.”

I enjoy seeing all the love she gets on her content-and I hope people fall in love with the lifestyle she’s living even more.

…and guaranteed the DM is going to start off with “SHE LOOKS SO GOOD!”

My girl works hard + eats smart. The results were guaranteed.

Train alongside people whose consistency and persistence inspires you. Having to call your home girl to “see” if she’s working out with you the next day isn’t doing you any favors. Train with ladies you KNOW are showing up. That’s going to help you show up too.

You need the community and accountability. So, we’ll see you soon 😉

What began as a quintessential sister circle hang, revisiting Waiting to Exhale, quickly descended into a full-on battle royale when we decided to foolishly attempt to film a TikTok dance trend.

Did we know what we were doing? Absolutely not.

Did that stop us? Also, absolutely not.

There was confidence. There was confusion. There were knees that should have known better.

Personally, I might add this to my résumé as leadership development.

For your Sunday enjoyment, I present: “Aunties Try TikTok”

A big thank you too, my BFF for being the absolute best host @qbs1913 !

We are bubbling over with gratitude as we reflect on the 2026 Tyrone E. Winfrey Hall of Fame Alumni Gala. Events of this magnitude don’t happen because of one person. They happen because a village of people come together with a shared vision and a commitment to excellence.

From our DPSCD Foundation Board of Directors and DPSCD Board of Education to our sponsors, partners, alumni creatives, volunteers, staff, and supporters — thank you for helping us bring A Different World to life.

And to every guest who attended, supported, donated, reposted, encouraged, and showed love along the way… thank you for helping us continue creating opportunities for Detroit students.

“Watching our community come together to celebrate the brilliance and future of DPSCD was incredibly special. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who poured into this event and helped make the night unforgettable.” — Kerrie Mitchell Campbell-Mabins

Success requires a village, and we are grateful for ours.

Because of Tyrone ❤️

This event carries Tyrone E. Winfrey’s name for a reason. Every year, we reach back into the community and hear how he impacted the trajectory of so many lives, and the stories are always heartfelt and powerful.

He dedicated his life to making sure students were connected to real opportunities to rise.

Join us May 16 as we celebrate his legacy and everything it continues to inspire.

If Tyrone has ever impacted you, drop a comment and share your story.

We’ve been keeping a secret… and we know you’ve all been waiting. Today’s the day we let it all out!

The plans are set, the design is locked, the food is vetted, Sumptuous Spirits crafted the menu, and the entertainment is secured. Only question is… where???

The Tyrone E. Winfrey Hall of Fame Alumni Gala returns Saturday, May 16, and the destination for A Different World is none other than East English Village Preparatory Academy at Finney. Formerly known as Finney High School, this rebuilt school is just 10 minutes from downtown.

We’re thrilled to take it east this year and transform this standout school into a futuristic, immersive experience. EEVPA is one of the high schools anchoring the District’s new High School Redesign initiative, which will be formally unveiled during the VIP Hour of the Gala.

Every year, we get props on our full transformations at the hands of Kori Fields and team. Come see what she’s created this year.
